Be warned - the zoo staff have a unstated policy of denying access to camera lenses that they consider too big! They have an issue with 70-200mm telephoto lenses and even for the use of a monopod with small lenses! There advise was to leave the "big" lense in the car!!! The Belize Zoo is billed as "The Best Little Zoo in the World". It's a cute moniker, and one we wholeheartedly agree with. Chances are you've seen it in a nature or travel show. What a great little zoo! It's very intimate, very lush, feels like you're in the jungle! A unique experience, the animals are seperated only by heavy chicken wire. After an hour long trip from Belize City, you are guided thru this haven for these rescued animals.
