An excellent day out starting with a guided boat tour on the New River - our guide pointed out many different birds, and both spider and howler monkeys - followed by a guided tour of the ruins with a very knowledgeable guide. We used Vitalino Reyes' Vital Nature and Mayan Tours company (www.cavetubing.bz; 011-501-602-8975/832-2640) which included pick-up in a private... More

Get ready for an hour by boat from San Pedro, an hour by bus, then another hour by boat, that's only 1 way! A lot of traveling but if you've never seen Mayan Ruins & can't afford to go to Tikal, it's a unique look into Mayan culture. I've been to Chichen Itza, so nothing really compares to that, but... Our trip to Lamanai was a great experience for us! We booked the trip 2 days prior through our resort on Ambergris Caye & Seaduced adventures picked us up around 7 am. The boat ride to the mainland and up the Northern River to the town of Bomba took about 1.5 hour. After a bus ride and another boat ride... More

Highly recommended experience in Belize. Plenty of wildlife in the river trip to Lamanai and great very inspiring Maya archeological sites covering the 3 Mayan periods.

We booked this as an excursion on our Caribbean cruise. The bus ride from Belize city was kind of boring but the tour along the river made up for it. It was so awesome to go back in time and see the ruins. It was hot as can be at the ruins but that didn't stop our fun. I highly... More

We took this tour off the Crown Princess in April. We booked Raul Marchand (galmar_48@yahoo.com) on line for just my husband and myself, but we were lucky to be seated next to a family of four before leaving the ship who joined us and lowered the price to $115/person. Mr. Marchand was a great guide. We left the boat as... More

Our guides did an amazing job making sure we got value during the trip. We saw manatees a dolphin, tons of birds, monkeys, and of course the magnificent Mayan ruins. It's a long day but worth every minute. Our guide for the ruins, Eddie, really knew his stuff and loved to share.

Lamanai is an amazing Mayan site located in the jungle by the New River. You can take a 2 hour boat ride from Orange Walk Town to get to it, and you'll see all kinds of wildlife on the way. Crocodiles, spider monkeys, beautiful tropical birds. . .you won't believe it! As you walk through the ruins, you'll feel as... More

We took this tour in March 2013 which organised by by our cruise line - Oceania - so probably paid over the odds for it but we felt it well worth it! In fact the high speed 'cruise' up and down 20 odd miles of river was more of a highlight than the ruins themselves. Small boats with 2 x... More

Took this trip through Major Tom (booked by Luciana at Oasi, but obvious he has many other guest houses and contacts booking his tours) it's a long way from Caye Caulker, boat at 7, back to Belize City, transfer for 45- 1 hour by car to Orange Walk and then another hour plus by boat up the river. The river... More
