This was not only a beautiful glimpse into the past of the Mayan people but also a great jungle river trip complete with manatees, crocodiles, monkeys and bats.

Natural history oozes out of every turn and the Mayan site is gloriously free of crowds. The river trip was full of birdlife, overhead in the air (jabiru) and on the banks (nestling bare-throated tiger heron) for the keen eyed. Our driver was brilliant at spotting things and stopping in double quick time. Wandering around the vast site, including the... More

Lovely boat ride to reach Lamanai (We did it with Reyes and Sons). Our excellent tour guide Eric made sure to point out birds, bats, a crocodile and tell us all about the river and its inhabitants. He then served up a great lunch before we visited the ruins. Lovely setting and you walk between the ruins under the shade... More

Ok so I should work out more. But even so, the long boat and car ride, hike through the jungle, and climb up incredibly steep (and tall!) Mayan ruins was totally worth it. This was such an amazing experience and one of my favorite trips in Belize. We got quite the surprise when a few howling monkeys came to the... More

It took a long time to get to the ruins but once there it was a nice site. There were a number of temples that could be climbed and nice trails at site.

Lamanai Adventure tours did an excellect job. We wound our way through the rivers on an excellent boat trip. We had a wonderful traditional lunch (Mayan chicken, rice and beans, watermelon. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the ruins. Don't pass up climbing to the top of the temple! The views are amazing up there!

When discussing Lamanai, you must separate the site from the journey to get there (something other reviewers have not done). From our resort in Ambergris Caye, we traveled 6 hours round trip. The trip is long, cramped and bumpy (both boat and bus), but you do get to see mangrove forests and the interior of central Belize (my youngest son... More

My husband and I visited Lamanai in April of 2014. It was part of a trip to Orchid Bay to look at property. We love visiting Mayan Ruins and this one was exceptional. We were taken to Lamanai by way of boat on the New River. Lamanai is very large, so be prepared to walk a bit over uneven terrain.... More

We took this tour from tropic air, it was still a long day but worth it. A must see once if you are into these type of things.

The whole day was great. Started with the journey with the boat. Our guide drove slowly when appropriate to help us enjoy the scenary including feeding one monkey. The temples were beautiful and when you climb them the views are unbeliezable We did this tour with Tuff E Nuff and I am sure this made a difference since they are... More
