Relaxing full day trip to a interesting well preserved Mayan site. We saw spider monkeys and howler monkeys. Be sure to climb to the relatively easily accessible Mayan Temple. The view at the top is spectacular. The guides are very knowledgeable and the museum is well put together. The boat ride to the Mayan site goes through the rain forest... More

Booked via our cruise line; Edgar and Edgar (father and son) did a wonderful job of making everyone comfortable; river boat ride was pleasant and nice escape from the heat and humidity; saw spider monkey, croc, as well as amazing plant life. The ruins and info provided were interesting and unlike some other Mayan ruin sites you were able (if... More

Had an excellent tour guide, who was like a walking encyclopedia. amazing guy. Delicious home made lunch in the jungle was nice and delicious. But it took over 2 hours to get there. There was another site Altun Ha that was closer, and no need to go on a river for over 50 minutes. Do that if you want to... More

Amir was totally knowledgeable and fun as a guide on the River of Strange Faces as well as at the Ruins. He delighted us with stories and history as well as stopping at points of interest along the River. Highly recommend!

This place and the guides we had were totally worth the trip to get there! We left from San Pedro in a boat and went up the Old River to Bomba, got on a bus to the New River then toured the site. Our guide pointed out historical and natural points of interest along the way then knew an amazing... More

This was a very interesting ruin site. We had about an hour long boat ride up the river to get to the site. We saw birds, alligators, bats, and cactus growing all over the branches of a tree. The guide gave us lots of history about everything. You can climb to the top of each temple but they are steep.... More

There is a long, but comfortable, bus ride that the guide really made interesting. Tiffany was very knowledgable and you could really tell that she loves her country. You do travel through severely property stricken areas that will really make you feel blessed. After the bus ride there is a boat ride down the river. We saw a spider monkey,... More

There are lots of Mayan ruins, but Lamanai is special. It began early and was still in use when the Spaniards arrived. Unlike most Mayan cities, Lamanai was a river port, so to get there you can take a tour there my motor launch up the New River from Orange Walk. There are numerous tour companies; the one we took... The site had three main ruins which... More
