While off the beaten path, this site may be a must see for just that reason. The boat ride through the jungle to get to the site should be savored as part of the experience. You could see a monkey, a lizard, bats, unique flora and fauna... and other surprises. The ruins themselves are impressive and are still being uncovered.... More

We did this tour from an NCL cruise. It was very enjoyable and culturally interesting although it takes almost a full day to do the tour. At the port we were guided to older charter style buses for an over 1 hour ride thru Belize City and the countryside during which our guide Tiffany provided a lot of insight and... More

I visited Lamanai pyramids with the Lamanai River Tours and I am stunned! The tour was very well organized and absolutely worth while! In the morning we started by the river, the Guide Ignazio whom I highly recommend, picked us up with his crew and we made our way down to the archeological site. On the way we stopped a... More

Docking a point from this rating NOT because of the ruins (they were wondrous to see and to climb!), but because of the tour experience. If you're wanting to do this from a cruise, I would suggest something else - the travel time to these ruins is very long, and in the end you get quickly herded around the site... More

This was our best experience on our recent cruise with Norwegian. The ruins are remote--it took an hour by bus, then about another hour by boat, to reach them. But the ride out is part of the experience. You get to see the Belizean cities and countryside, and our guide (nicknamed "Beans") was especially adept at giving us just enough... More

This trip was nothing short of AWESOME. Fantastic river cruise to and from the Mayan ruins was relaxing and informative. The ruins itself was also excellent and well preserved. The Mayans built their structures to last and they sure do. Enjoyed a fantastic Belizean lunch afterward. Take this trip you will be glad you did.

An excellent introduction into ancient Mayan history and culture. Not as large as other sites, it has been extensively excavated and is very well maintained as a state preservation site. Arranged by our hosts at Crooked Tree Lodge, our tour included a 90-minute speedboat ride (with opportunities for wildlife spotting and photography) up river to the ruins, an excellent guide,... It was the whole ambience....a bus ride from Belize City. A speed boat tour on a river to the jungle....then we came to the most amazing temples. They were grand in scale and wonderfully preserved. You could climb most of them, with the best one being the High Temple, some 140 feet tall. The guides were knowledgable. Make sure to... More

I booked this tour through my hotel to go with SEAduced. Prepare yourself for a long day. It starts out with a boat ride to a place just beyond Belize City. You get off the boat then get on a bus for a fairly long ride to a river launch site and get on another boat. The ride up the... More
