We dived the Blue Hole about 20 years ago. We were not that excited about the "hole" then but we had a fantastic 45 minute safety stop on the edge of the reef in beautiful patch coral. This time it wasn't the same. We went back because we were staying at Turneffe Flats and the other divers wanted to go.... More

If you are looking for beautiful coral, don't expect to find it here. What you will find are sharks! We did our dive going down to 130 feet (oops, a little past my certification). In my defense, I was just following the leader. It is just a big hole in the earth. What was cool was when coming up for... More

So yes you get up early (on the pier at 5:15). Yes, it's a killer boat ride there and back (two and a half hours) in some rough seas. It's also the coolest dive you will do in Belize if not the planet (for a rec diver that is). We went with the guys from Ramon's (Ask Rick about renting... More

We dove the Blue Hole and it was nice, but the visibility wasn't great. We went to 40m, saw a couple of Caribbean reef sharks and swum under some stalactites, but there isn't much else. The two dives we did after the Blue Hole where more beautiful. We left from Caye Caulker and it was a 2h boat trip. If... More

The dive in the Blue Hole is very quick (10 to 15 min), it is dark, and there is little marine life. You may spot a blacktip reef shark far away and you will see some stone stalactites formation in the dark. The second and third dives after the Blue Hole are excellent. The half moon cay wall in your... More

My friends and I were on the live-aboard yacht Sun Dancer II, which we loved and highly, highly recommend (amazing food and crew), but that's a different review. I knew going into the Blue Hole not expect sea life; this is a structure or scenic dive, like cave diving. I'm a huge fan of that, but not everyone is. So... More

If you are traveling to Belize, you HAVE to go to the Blue Hole! It is fantastic!! The boat ride is 2 hours long, but the scenery is fantastic!! The Half Moon Caye island that we stopped at for lunch and to see the red footed boobie bird nests was incredible! It is truly a secluded island! You will see... More

Hands down the best day of diving I have ever done. If you are in Belize and you are a competent diver DO THIS TRIP! It is worth the miserably long boat ride.

The GBH was a fantastic experience and well worth all I went thru to dive there. The dive shop at my resort set me up to go with Amigos del Mar to go on monday at 5:30am. After eating their breakfast of stale poundcake, scones and tang, we boarded the AdM"s big boat. Their boat was quite enclosed which made... More

We visited Belize a few years ago. We spent time in Belize City, a jungle outpost and stayed on Ambergris Caye for several days. The highlight of the stay on Ambergris Caye was definitely snorkeling in the Blue Hole. That is definitely on our must repeat list.
