The Parks at Chehaw used to be a state park but was taken over by city of Albany. There are playgrounds with picnic areas even large open pavilions for rent. The city moved the zoo here years ago as well and provides an interesting and educational look at many types of wild animals from all around the world.

Lots of animals to look at and it is a nice family setting. It was not too expensive to get in the park. You can enjoy the park and if you are local it is a nice asset to the community.

What a great little hidden jewel in Albany. They have so much to offer here. Fishing ,biking, hiking, viewing the animals, train ride, bmx track, Frisbee golf, large playground, and picnicking. Summer camps are also very good. The Native American festival was awesome.

This is a really hidden gem of South Georgia. Chehaw Park is a zoo that rivals those of Atlanta and other big cities and is accessible without the bad traffic that major cities have to deal with. The site is classic south Georgia, but the animal exhibits will take you around the world! Rino's and tigers and bears OH MY... More

This great state park is about an hour and a half from my home, and it was well worth the trip. I visited along with several other moms, and we had a group of 9 kids between us, ranging in age from 4 to 11. All of the children had a great time. It would be hard to say whether... More

The lights are great. The wait for the train undesirable. The lights were will done. The flow of traffic swell. The train line was just to long for the kids. They need seating for the wait for old folks.

Chehaw Park is so much more than when I was young. It has fishing, camping, native American festivals, x-bike trails, camping, an interesting zoo, play grounds, hiking trails, picnic areas, and probably other things of interest that I am unaware of yet. Christmas brings a drive through festival of lights. Check it out to see what other areas of interest... More

Designed by Jim Fowler of "Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom" fame, it is a great zoo. Many animal habitats to visit, great variety of animals.

The park is great for a few reasons. At Christmas they have a light show you can drive thru, not near the scale of Calloway Gardens, but the l Kids love it. The zoo is wonderful. I was astonished at the variety of animals and scale of the grounds. My favorite is a long dock over the numerous large alligators.... More

We like the animal park and hope they continue to add animals and make some inprovements. It's not as big as the Atlanta Zoo, but we like it a lot better. The picnic area is nice and the playground is very large. There is no snack shack and the gigt shop is a little pricey and small. We attended the... More
