My husband and I take music themed trips, so when we heard of the Ray Charles Plaza, we knew we had to go. Albany is a growing city and there is a lot of road construction, so gps had outdated information, which caused a lot of confusion. Regardless, we eventually arrived and found Riverfront park and let me assure you,... More

The Ray Charles Plaza was really nice! It had his music playing and many little tiles around to resemble piano keys. It also had a cute water fountain. The park is beautiful. It has several swings for kids and adults. I saw several people having a picnic. It's a great tribute to Ray Charles. Very peaceful and nice place to... More

As a native Georgian I have always loved the music of Ray Charles, especially Georgia on my Mind. After I saw the movie depicting his life I admired him even more. I was thrilled when Albany, GA, developed this beautiful riverfront park in his memory. My teen age Grand daughter was visiting from MA. and she was intrigued with the... More

Ray Charles is moving. Very slowly, he rotates as he sings. The Plaza is well maintained and don't forget to note the piano keys that are the steps. Artfully designed.

How appropriate that a statue of a vision impaired artist would play his music, --so it's visual and audible. It was very cool to see and the people out enjoying the park were friendly. Some motorcyclists drove up and excitedly took pictures. It was a fun experience.

Located in downtown Albany, along a sparse river front near a quiet, but improving downtown is a Nice Memorial to the late Ray Charles, whom was born to a share cropper single mom in Albany, GA. Ray did not spend long there before they returned to Florida, but Ray has been loyal to Albany, including donating millions to the community... More

Great place to sit and play and sing with an acoustic guitar. No doubt an audience will show up. Even had a group of children off a bus on a field trip join in for some sing alongside.
