This is a beautiful short nature walk on the southwest side of the island. The walk begins on a shell path and then becomes boardwalk. Part of the walk is in thick mangroves. We were not lucky with our wildlife search. At one point on the path you are high enough to see the bay on one side and the... More

I am an area native that moved away many years ago because of work. My family still has a small place on Anna Maria that we visit each summer, but we've never visited the boardwalk area because it's usually too hot and buggy. This year with our kids off to college, we came a month early and brought our 2-man... More

We enjoyed our walk through the mangrove tunnels. It was a quiet and relaxing time. We saw different species of Herons and other birds. The boardwalk was well designed and maintained. The educational signage was informative and highlighted the importance of mangroves for birds and fish.

No charge for parking and the trolley stops right at the entrance. Squirrels will chase you for food but don't come too close. Must visit while on the island.

Short and easy nature walk along boardwalk with bay, bridge and Cortez views. Some wild and sea life and quiet setting for a nice 1 hour diversion. Across the street from Coquina Beach with plenty of parking.

I've always preferred a great beach with some palms close enough to provide some shade when needed. This venue has both features plus picnic tables, and a great little café with gorgeous views of the gulf and reasonably priced food - outdoor seating only. On weekends they have a flea market and entertainment. Enough space on the beach for couples... More

This is a great place to walk, view wildlife, explore a mangrove habitat and take photos. Wide sandy paths and boardwalks meander through the area and get you to quiet corners and open vistas. We saw lots of the black mangrove crabs, anole lizards and birds. We encountered only a few other people, so it felt like we had the... More

This is one of those hidden gems that I didn't really have too much expectation for but turned out to be a really enjoyable way to spend an hour or two. You walk along pathways and boardwalks looking at scenery and wildlife - the little mangrove crabs were great scuttling about! If you like peace and quiet and nature then... More

This excellent nature walk offers an interesting boardwalk experience through the mangroves with frequent and rewarding different bay overlooks with benches, and an optional easy hilltop climb with overviews of Sarasota to the South and AMI bridges to the North. Bring your camera. Suitable for all ages. Great place to push a baby stroller or for elderly to stroll and... More
