Not quite Cherry Creek but also not usually as crowded. The beaches are nice, and the kids had a great time playing in the sand. With Cherry Creek so close, there's not usually very many people here during the week.

The beach area is great for spending the day with friends or taking kids to play. Plenty of shade from picnic areas or trees. The water is usually clear, a decent temperature (except really cold at the start of summer) and you can find small tadpoles easily. There is also a designated area to swim, making it a nice to... The Aurora is a pay to visit reservoir. It is easy to get too and has a great reputation for fishing. There is a 2 fish limit per person and you do have to have a license. There is an excellent swim beach with plenty of covered picnic areas. You may want to reserve them in advance. Non-motorized boats are... More

This was a great place to hang out with family and friends. We went to the boat launch side of the reservoir instead if the beach side. It was less crowded and closer to the parking lot. It was fun to just sit and watch the paddle boarders, kayaks, and wind surfers. Note: it does cost $10 per car to... More

Lots of boats, here, almost too many, but I believe they now have a 'no-wake' policy. Give it a try, good rentals available for the day, but a little pricey. We did not eat in the area so I can't recommend a place. Take your own food and drink the first time until you find a spot to imbibe. I'm... More

The boating on the reservoir is something to watch. People bring picnic baskets and stay for the day. We went there for a day trip and enjoyed it very much.

Wanted to spend some time outdoors while we had a free afternoon and came across this spot. Very reasonably priced fun. Can canoe, kayak, windsurf, paddle board, etc for about $10/hour. Clean water and fun for kids and adults. Would definitely go back! Took 5 teenage girls and they didn't want to leave.

The ice fishing at Aurora Reservoir Is awesome! After I learned to love this sport, I came here on a regular basis to ice fish and catch (usually my limit very time) of trout and perch. Of course, in the warmer weather seasons, I'd rent a small skiff and go out and fish away! Great place for families!
