Awesome views easily reached by all, very short hike on level path to first lake. Stay and enjoy the view of The Maroon Bells shadowing the lake. Some are lucky and get to see moose in the lake, but i have not. There are two scenic loops at the end of the lake to explore but are more demanding. After... More

In order to get to Maroon Lake and view the Maroon Bells one must take a bus from the parking structure at Aspen Highlands. The bus ride is free and only fifteen minuets and the views heading up the mountain are spectacular. When you arrive at the drop off, walk to the lake and take your time to view the... More

We walked the trail to Crater Lake which we took slowly as we live at sea level and the altitude does affect us. However, we are so glad we did. The aspens were at their peak and the colours of the rocks were indeed maroon. The atmosphere with so many walking the trails was fantastic and we stopped to chat... More

We hiked a portion of this trail on September 23. The fall colors are amazing and the view of the Lake with the mountains in the background is beyond amazing. The trail was closed after a short distance because of a problem with Moose. We went on to take the trail to Crater lake which is more difficult and about... More

It is one of the most beautiful lake I've ever seen. Morning, Evening has very different look. When there is no winds, it is so clear and calm we see totally amazing, unforgettable, breathtaking scene. We really do not want to leave the spot. Stayed, stayed and stayed.

Beautiful scenery and getting exercise at the same time! A wonderful moderate hike to the top. We missed the waterfall, though. The trail was closed because of 2 moose. Next time. Gorgeous fall color in September with Aspen trees.

After you take in the main views at Maroon Bells (near the parking lot) you can venture off in several directions to various trails around the lake. Some trails are easy; some trails are more strenuous and less traveled. Since we had young kids we decided to try the Maroon Lake Scenic loop. We weren’t sure how long it would... More

The hike was moderate for those used to hiking. The views were spectacular! As you walk through the aspen forest you will find yourself looking at the mountains surrounding you. With a sore knee, using trekking poles were essential for me. I would recommend trekking poles to take the strain off your knees and to help keep your balance. The trail... More

This is a nice walk for those who don't want to hike up the trails but want to experience Maroon Bells, not difficult.

We took the short walk along the lake while at Maroon Bells. It is just breathtaking to look at. It was a misty morning with some sun interspersed by light rain as the mini-storms came over the peaks. That combo just made it more picturesque. We were glad we took light jackets as the weather and temperature varied significantly in... More
