Beautiful trail to and around the lake. Family friendly. You get everything from beavers, wild grassy fields, snow capped mountain view, lake, creeks, wooden bridges, picnic, and mild lake-side trails. If you are visiting in the summer, be sure to bring lots of sun lotion and sun hat. Some part of the trail can be really hot with limited shading.

Definitely an iconic view of our country, a must if you are in the Aspen, Snowmass area. You can take a short family friendly walk for just several hundred yards or if you are a more seasoned and serious hiker you can go all the way to Crested Butte for an overnight. A breathtaking mountain lake and you feel that... More

It's a must. You can't come to Aspen and not see the most legendary view in all of America in my humble opinion. When you see a calendar for Colorado, the Maroon Bells is always featured. You don't have to be a hiker, just willing to walk a few hundred yards and you will be delighted by one of the... More

My husband and I drove here early one morning why honeymooning in Colorado. Having traveled many places in Europe including Switzerland, Italy and France, I have to say this spot was truly breathtaking. This trail follows along the right side of the lake, which is just off the parking lot sidewalk. Bring your kids, parents or grandparents...a picturesque spot for... More

Definite MUST SEE! Absolutely beautiful and not far from Aspen! 5 minute walk from the parking lot to the trail (and awesome view of the Maroon Bells).

One of the all time classic postcard images, this simple trail is readily accessible and opens up one magnificent vista after the other. As a world traveler who has enjoyed mountain scenery from the Andes to the Alps, I still visit this trail annually and it still takes my breath away

This is a great hike that gets you just a little further from the parking lot. Easy for families. Just make sure you have the right shoes. A spill on this trail could land you in a nice cold creek of a like of snow.

This is well worth doing and as beautiful as everyone says. There were a few people around the car park end of the lake but very few ventured to the far end of the lake. The path was a little muddy after the rain, but nothing that a shoes with good tread could not manage. If you are only going... More

Always wanted to see these mountains/lake/fall colors--was very crowded, but they helped us park so we could take photos
