One of the most rewarding hikes I've ever been on. The views are stunning (especially in early autumn when the changing colors are nearly florescent). The trail has a good mix of steep inclines and a few steady paths, but nothing is as rewarding as the crystal clear lake on top. By far the best hike we did in the... More

Love that the trail leads you through all kinds of environments and beautiful lake at the end. Aspen forest, pine forest, rocks and open meadows are all included.

If you see my review of Cathedral Lake you will find this is much of the same review. The hike is rewarding but if you have bad knees, a bad back, or are not in somewhat decent shape then this hike is going to be tough. Less popular than nearby cathedral lake, this hike is well worth the effort. It's steep and challenging but you are rewarded with a beautiful alpine lake in a majestic setting. As always, bring lots of water, lunch, and rain gear.

My wife and I did it with our 8 year old an 3 year old. Take your time and ascend through different ecosystems to a beautiful alpine lake. Look around and you'll find some remnants of the old mining days too. If you're in reasonably good shape give it a try. It's easier than Cathedral Lake trail...that is for sure.... More

The uphills ro start with are very challenging but the rest a a great physical workout. It took us flat landers about 2 hours up (taking breaks to take photos) and 1 1/2 hours back down. Gorgeous views and terrain. The lake was totally peaceful.
