Beautiful tribute to John Denver

Very peaceful and right along a stream. They have verses from some of his songs on boulders around the area. It would be a good place to sit and just be.

We visited here on a recent stay in Aspen. One in the group was an overseas visitor, who was interested when told of this place. When I visit such a place, I try to put myself into the shoes (and minds) of the designers. Given all the options, why did they design the “sanctuary” in this manner? I could not... More

This place was truly lovely. I think he would have been pleased. It is right by a small rushing river. The area was littered with huge boulders, some with the words to his songs carved into them. The flower gardens were so beautiful. A truly special place and worth a stop if you are in Aspen.

We stumbled across the John Denver Sanctuary while biking the Rio Grande trail towards Glenwood. We were so impressed that we decided to stop the bike ride and spend awhile touring the grounds. Beautifull!

This ended up being my favorite place during my stay in Aspen. It's a soothing sort of place with a really good atmosphere. Even if you're not a John Denver fan you will love it.

In downtown Aspen, along a flowing riverbank, this lovely garden with stones carved with various sayings (from John Denver, and others) is a wonderful spot to stop, breathe, listen. There are pathways to walk, a waterfall, all kinds of flowers. There's a grassy hill if you want to sit and just rest. It's an easy walk, and just so beautiful... More

A peaceful place, lots of flowers and vegetation, along with the running waters. I expected more of his song lyrics to be engraved, I only saw a half dozen or so, some of which my wife wasn't able to see, being in a wheelchair. I was surprised that it was not more wheelchair friendly.

I always make sure to stop here whenever I'm in Aspen. It's so peaceful and scenic. A must see even if you're not a JD fan.

Do not miss a visit here in the summer (maybe it's also nice in the winter). Although the sanctuary is fairly small it is spectacularly beautiful filled with almost every known perennial. The colors are perfect and the running water adds to the overall atmosphere of serenity. Even the rest rooms are bordered by flower beds. Thanks to the people... More

This is a great spot to bring a picnic, a book and relax near the river. The sanctuary is loaded with beautiful flowers along the river. There are several rocks with his lyrics carved into them. If you were a fan of John's, you'll really enjoy spending a little time here and reflecting on your memories.
