This is an easy to get to spot right off the Rio Grande trail. You can take a moment for calm reflection and meditation.

The John Denver Sanctuary is just that. The sound of the creek, the flowers, the picnic table, the stones, the walking path all make this a wonderful place for kids, families, dogs or single people to play, read a book, have a picnic, sit or visit. This is such a nice place in the midst of a busy, noisy Aspen.... More

A hidden gem. If you are a john Denver fan, get a local map (they are readily available) and make your way here. Aspen is so small that you can easily walk here from anywhere in town. Walking south on s. Spring street, it turns into Rio grande place. At time of writing, the unmarked path is directly across the... More

Reflective of the nature John Denver enjoyed. Free entry although must park and pay nearby (suggest parking garage at 427 Rio Grande Place....$1.50 for the time needed to visit) and short walk across the street to the sanctuary.

And kids heaven. My boys really loved this park and what a testament to the parks department for a well planned and gorgeous spot. We have spent endless afternoons playing in the water, climbing big boulders and wish more towns would follow suit with these great outdoor spaces. Thank you Aspen Parks Dept and John Denver Family!

This is worth an hour to walk around and take in the beauty. My wife and I are both baby-boomers and remember John Denver well. Lyrics to some of his songs are etched into stones amidst the well maintained park and stream.

Forced, faked naturalness. Heavy-handed, with all the depth of a Hallmark greeting card. Not up to the high esthetics I associate with Aspen.

A pleasant spot along the river where you can stop and think. The flowers, rocks and water effects are excellent!

We've been to Aspen many times but this last trip was my first to really explore the John Denver Sanctuary. I walked my dog through the area and enjoyed the sound of the running water, the wildflowers and the large stones engraved with beautiful quotes throughout the area. What a wonderful sanctuary just steps from Main Street!
