We took the gondola to the top, did the short nature trail, and ate lunch at the restaurant. The nature trail must be seeded as there are more wildflowers than I have ever seen. The restaurant was pretty good and not as overpriced as most in Aspen.

HIked Aspen Mountain ( Ajax) "Summer Road" today. Recommend for fit adults. We arrived from Europe and had only two days to explore. We did not know there were many trails on the mountain. This one is difficult, but has direct access and spectacular views of mountains and valleys. Unbelievable fields of flowers and trees. Go to the Gondola. Walk... More

We rode the gondola in the summer up to the top of Aspen Mountain. It's about a 20 minute ride that gives you nice views of the town of Aspen. I wish we had gone up earlier in the day...as they have live music playing and lots of activities and hikes. My tip would be to get the pass early... More

Went to Aspen for seven days and never left Ajax. We had an amazing time and really enjoyed the mountain. Had our lunch at the mountain top and then spend the days in the slopes. I'd go back!

We make sure to visit Ajax Tavern to satisfy the craving of truffled fries. It is great place for lunch and in the winter a great place for people watching. You are on the base of the mountain so you can see the skiers and in the restaurant all the great dressers that may or may not be great skiers.... More

Great mountain for skiing located right downtown aspen. It is for more advanced skiers so if you are just learning or have smaller children this is probably not the ski mountain for you.

These trails are accessible after the gondola ride on Aspen mountain. Nature trail is simple and shaded with views of the forest. Richmond trail is wide and a fairly easy hike. The view at the very top is amazing!! It's totally worth the time and effort.

I'm calling it my favorite because the views are amazing!! We rode the gondolas up on a Sunday. At the top, a bluegrass band was playing, while families sat and enjoyed the music and children played games nearby. We ate lunch at the restaurant, which was a little pricy but well worth it! We ate outside and enjoyed the nice... More

Went mountain biking down from the top of the mountain. Take the gondola up and enjoy a great ride all the way down. Good food and drink when you get there. Your hands will be so tired from the downhill it will be hard to hold a drink when you get to the bar

Whilst we were staying in Aspen the chair lifts were only open at weekends and hence if you wanted to see any of the mountains you had to do it the hard way, on foot. We stumbled across the Ajax Trail whilst walking up the mountain one day and it provided a beautiful scenic end to our walk.
