Perfect place to visit in the summer. Take the gondola to the top of Ajax and enjoy lunch with breathtaking views, frisbee golf at the top of the world, and even yoga a few mornings a week. They've added some attractions for the younger kids that make it a perfect family visit.

A friend who has lived in Aspen for >9 years was gracious enough to share this amazing 4x4 adventure with me. (And when I say 4x4, I mean it. The terrain is pretty rocky and very rough.) About an hour / hour and a half before sunset, we drove south on Castle Creek Road to Midnight Mine Rd (15A) and... More

The pine forest view was wonderful from the mountain top. We took the gondola ride to this summit and enjoyed lunch at their restaurant. They had some activities for the kids, but there was not much else to do up here in the summer.

Out of all mountains I skied at while in Aspen, Ajax is definitely my favorite. The trails are fun, no greens, and blacks and double blacks are amazing. Although, what I like about Ajax is the speed it offers. If you're looking for challenging routes, take Snowmass, since it tends to get more wild (in my opinion). Ajax has everything... More

3200 vertical feet -- great 2 hour workout! I hiked it July 5 the day after a great fireworks show on the 4th. Aspen is as busy that weekend as any in the ski season -- great weekend getaway for good food, good cycling and great scenery.

It is right in town and has to be skied, if you go to Aspen. I prefer Snowmass, but Ajax was my first skiing experience out west, and I will never forget it.

Your heart leaps just a little bit every time you round Kleenex Corner as you ski down Ajax Mountain. That first view of the town of Aspen is a wonder. A perfect mini-city located far from the madding crowd. The mountain itself is thought of as a difficult mountain. There are no green runs. But the blue runs are not... More

Ajax is super fun. The original mountain at Aspen. Would not advise it if you are a beginner. I am intermediate level and there were definitely runs I would never attempt. Otherwise, challenging and great, great fun!

This is our fourth time hiking to the top of Ajax aka Aspen Mountain. I did the hike with my two kids ages 8 and 10 and we've done it before when they were 6 and 8. This is definitely a difficult hike for those not in shape or not used to the elevation like us, but it can be... More

Took the gondola ride with family to the top of Aspen Mountain. Some of my children are too inexperienced to ski Aspen, but we wanted to see the mountain anyway. We took plenty of pictures and ate lunch in the lodge. Everyone loved the views of the town below and the incredible mountains on all horizons. Worth the ticket price.
