We booked our reservations online since they only have tours twice a week. Met at a parking lot and then took a trolley ride to the lighthouse. Loved the trolley ride up the crazy hillside. Beautiful views. Sit on left side of trolley on the way there and right on the way back for the best views. Also the back... More

Be sure to call ahead and make a reservation. Staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. The restored house and tower are charming and we enjoyed our tour. The ride up to the light is incredible with miles of views out to the ocean and along the coast. On the way up sit on the left side of the trolley... More

okay, apparently you can walk there, but the most oft used means is by the regular tours on the little tour trolley. However, if you can, go by SUP or kayak along the rock, passing some cool clear water, lots of seals, and if there is wind, just stay by the rock and you will be shielded. Park your ride... More

Hike was great...Tours on Wednesdays & Saturday's only; met 8:45 am at the Fisherman's Memorial in Avila Beach. Did the Pecho Trail to the San Luis Lighthouse. Since the trail is on private property (PG & E); you can only get to it by hiking or taking the trolley. Need to make reservations online (Pecho Coast Trail Reservations). It was... More

We are locals but have never visited the lighthouse before so we finally scheduled a tour when we had an out of town visitor. The trolley ride to the lighthouse was not only informative but allowed for great views of the coastline that you typically don't get on your own. Once at the lighthouse, we were split up into smaller... More

Very cute lighthouse with kind and enthusiastic docents. The views are gorgeous and I definitely learned some interesting information. That being said... It isn't "spectacular" and the docents were sweet volunteers but not amazing in their presentation or knowledge. Glad we went though!

If you are looking for something new and unique to do on the Central California Coast, consider a tour of the Port San Luis Lighthouse. It is off the beaten path, and not open everyday. You will have to contact them to find out their hours and plan a short trip to explore this unique part of California history. You... More

The light house has a lot of history But is not a good idea to take small children because they are not able to touch anything. We took are 5 year old twins and the only thing they like was the swing and the trolley ride . The prices for children were $15.00 dollars each I think they should of been... More
