This beach is really nice. It's a little outside of the main part of avalon, so it's perfect to ride bikes to and hang out. It's very rare in California to find a beach that is allowed to serve alcoholic drinks on it. However, you do pay for that luxury. Drinks are definitely on the pricey side. Also, waiters/waitresses will... More

We arrived here with our cruise ship..the imagination ship carnival cruise, for the day..loved the feel of the locals here, cute little shops, great eating places... The beach was fine, beach club, which is a 10 min walk from casino look okay, but they were asking $70 for two deck chairs on their beach ....very expensive ,that's why only two coupes were siting there.... Very quiet and off the beaten track. The drinks were a little pricey. The beach was wonderful. Super clean rest rooms and showers. You don't want to miss this place. They are just opening this up so no food service yet. Just Drinks.

Signed up for a beach massage that was supposed to be right by the water. Unfortunately, the town had changed the rules, and the massages were brought up next to a ball field where people were playing baseball. That kind of took away from the relaxation of the massage. The massage itself was nice, but I think they should have... More

It's a pleasant walk over to the beach and is the place to go if you want a wide selection of watercraft for rent. Personally I prefer the beach in town which was convenient and had some nice snorkeling with plenty of Garibaldi fish.

What a beautiful beach! We especially enjoyed the bar, which is right on the sand overlooking the beautiful blue ocean. The bartender was so outgoing and friendly. We especially appreciated the location, being away from the crowds downtown.

The staff at Descanso Beach were very informative and helpful. Even though this was my daughter's first time kayaking, the staff put us both at ease and we had a wonderful paddle down the coast to Frog Rock and back. Highly recommend!

Rent a chaise lounge or a cabana and spend the day getting served cocktails while you get sunburned. Food service was limited when we were there because of construction. Great place to spend the day doing nothing. Also have zip lining and massage.
