The tasting room is located right next door to a large house. Both are very nice. There were two young ladies staffing the tasting room. They bounced around from customer to customer so much I felt like they were trying to move people out very quickly. Plus there was absolutely no talking about the wines. One of the ladies exhibited... More

My wife and I have enjoyed the wines from Mt Vernon for several years now. It is nice to live near so many great wineries. Mt Vernon is family run and the customer service has always been great. This is one of the more popular wineries in Placer County and can get crowded on weekends. They have a good size... More

I ordered the Sip California card through Groupon. The card hadn't come yet but I had the paperwork that showed my receipt and order #. The Sip California card waves the tasting fee and there are some other deals at wineries that choose to participate. I told the taster I hadn't received the card and showed her my papers. She... I had the extreme pleasure of visiting this winery with my sister and brother-in-law this month. The grounds are a pleasant place to bring a picnic and purchase a bottle of wine. We did some tasting and I found several wines I really enjoyed. The one thing that made me very happy is they have a few wines that with... More

The winery is a lovely setting for relaxing and hanging out. Tastings are on going and vary around $5-6.00 for a flight of different wines. If you choose to purchase a bottle your tasting fee is applied. They have a beautiful bar built just for them! They have won several awards at the CA. State Fair. Do Ask your Host/Hostess!... More

This is a fabulous winery, great wine and a fun tasting room! We belong to the wine club so we receive a discount on purchases and invitations to great events, such as the Cave Dinners! You must visit if you are on the way to Lake Tahoe or anywhere in the area. It is not too far off Highway 80... More

I took my wife here for the first wine tasting experience (we were visiting from London). At first we were pleasantly surprised at the price - $6 try try 15 different wines... this was an unheard of price! The wines themselves were all varying levels of great. We ended up purchasing the Breast Cancer Awareness wine because of the fantastic... More

So we visited the Mount Vernon Winery in Auburn, California. A very picturesque setting....very friendly staff and I think the wine was pretty good, but I am not sure. The pours were so small....so skimpy I could barely feel the moisture on my tongue! Several of us asked for a little more....my friend kidded the pourer about the smallness of... More

The Northern Sierra foothills are slow becoming note worthy with their wines and this winery offers an excellent opportunity to taste some of the locally produced wines from local grapes. While it is not the best winery in the area, it produces some very nice wines to wet your palate.

Most people either don't think about the foothill wineries, or they dismiss them as sub-par. Wrong! We live a short hour drive from the wine capitol of the US, Napa Valley. But one of our favorite wineries is Mt. Vernon. They have beautiful grounds tucked in the Sacramento foothills with a nice comfortable tasting room and pleasant staff. Come thirsty... More
