Great little old town with lots of things going on during the year.Wonderful Gold Mining history, sweet little museum, some great places to eat any meal as well as a few local shops worth a visit. I particularly like Old Town Auburn for it's quaint architecture, old Post Office and Fire station.

Lots of excellent restaurants, shops, artists within a tiny 3 block space. Even we who live here go down to Oldtown for food, shopping, and events.

It is an interesting experience to visit the Mandarin Festival on the fair grounds in Old Auburn. The town is well signed including which exit to take off I80 to get to the Festival. It is held in late November from Friday through Sunday. There is a charge for parking and admission, but not expensive. You can pick up cards... More

Just about every city in California has an "old town" area with restaurants, shops and some historical information. While Auburn is certainly not the largest of these old towns, it stands out for how well integrated it is into the local community. Old Town Auburn is not just a tourist trap (like San Diego or Sacramento) but is the heart... More

This is my home town so call me bias, but old town Auburn is a great little 49's original gold rush town. It has plenty of food choices and the ale house is worth a visit. Lots of history to explore and a good mini museum in the court house. Perhaps the best thing about the old town is its... More

I love a visit to Auburn, I just moved back home, after 15 years, it has the most unique shops, restaurants and events monthly. A fun and safe getaway for the traveler, once you visit you will return.

Charming little unique shops. Parking is very limited but worth the effort. Quick access of Interstate 80.

Old Town Auburn is a well kept, easy-to-walk tourist destination with a fine array of shops (clothes, jewelry, art/crafts, food), a pleasant choice of restaurants, nearby parking, an historical site or two, a strange giant gold-panning statue. Wander and shop for an hour or two, try to ignore the interstate highway rushing less than 50 yards from you, and stay... More
