Lake Clementine is accessible by paved road from Auburn, about 1/2 hr away. Lower lake has nice launch ramp and parking. Some power boats here, but mid-week use is almost exclusively canoe and kayaks. $10 fee. Upper lake is shallower and restricted to non-power craft. The lake is formed by a dam across the north fork of the American River... More

Launch your kayak at upper Lake Clementine. The water is clear and still. The water is shallow and you can see every detail of the river bed. It is as if you are floating in air. No power boats are allowed on the upper portion of the lake, so it is quiet and serene. Early in the morning is best.... More

We found out about this place when we signed up for an introductory stand up paddle board (SUP) class through REI. I was initially anxious because of the current but it turned out to be a great place to learn how to SUP. Dirt parking close to the water. Easy entry into the water. We arrived at 8:30 am on... If you look across the lake there is an outcrop of rock. In history it is said to be a place where bank, train, an any type of robber took the money and went there to hide it. It is also a meeting place for outlaw gangs to meet up....history, gotta LOVE it!

A beautiful and not too difficult hike. Save $10 parking fee and park on the El Dorado County side of the bridge. My favorite hike in this area! So many trails too, so don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself!

Per Matt C's review, the Applegate access to Lake Clementine is ONLY by hiking. There is NO vehicle access to the lake from this side. residents frequently encounter frustrated people with cars full of kids and grandmother looking to drive to the lake. Remember, great hikes, NO VEHICLES.

Awesome area! It has great scenery, its so lovely and breath-taking. BEAUTIFUL.. nice place to camp. Great multiple hiking/bike trails. Easy access to all areas. Place is very well kept up. The single trails are awesome...best part is that there are several trails all within a handshake of each other. One path will lead to many more as you go.... More

Started the hike at the Old Forest Hill Bridge to near the bade of the dam. The trail is a moderate walk, an easy hike. Lots of poison oak so stay on the trail. The dam over look was so pretty! Worth the time to do this hike.

This is a beautiful lake to explore. You can enter at the paved road to the dam or at Upper Clementine Road, which is a bumpy gravel road. Both locations are nice. It's a beautiful lake to kayak. You can get a good wind from the west in the afternoon, so take that into consideration if you are paddling the... More

Great access from auburn ca. Water is warm and lake is not packed. The parking isimited so you must get there early on the weekends. Which is good because the lake doesn't get crowded. There are several good beaches up river/lake you can set up got a nice day trip or camp over night. Only way to get to the... More
