Surprisingly good zoo for a small town. Very kid-friendly, with a park just outside the front gate. More

My family and I just visited this charming little zoo. It was perfect for our 2 year old grandson. He was free, and the adult tickets were only $5 each! Then right next to the zoo is Atascadero Lake and Park, which is very well equipped with a children's playground. From there, we walked over to the War Memorial which... More

Nice quiet little zoo. It Has a charm other zoos do not because of its size. More

Coming, as we do, from 15 years in San Diego, and having spent time in Oakland, San Francisco, this small menagerie was bound to disappoint. They try, and for a small place, do very well. More

This "zoo" is depressing. Very few animals cooped up in cages that emphasize the jail-like setting. Animals here tend to be old and sick. I am not an anti-zoo person in general, but there is a difference between a well-run, natural environment zoo that works to make sure the bars aren't highlighted and one that doesn't bother. More

I bring my family everytime we visit Atascadero, it's clean and well kept. The prices are very fair, and the animals are all well cared for. With the park in the same area as the zoo it's perfect for an all day visit. More

While you can easily walk through this little, local small town zoo in less than an hour if that's all the time you have, that's part of the charm. Great place to take toddlers and preschoolers and let them walk on their own without fearing losing them in crowds, or overstimulating them. Various exhibits and the entry way have been... More

I have seen many zoos, and bioparks, where the animals are kept in a Human way. But this one is really nice, small, in the shadow, with easy walk around and with a variaty of exotic animals that i did not seen anywhere else! cashier was kind, and nearby we enjoyed a nice park too. i strongly recommed it. I have been going to this zoo on the way to the central coast for over twenty years. It is fun and affordable and has become a family tradition. You have to keep in mind this is a zoo in a small town but they are always updating exhibits and upgrading when they can. My family and I really enjoy... More
