This natural history museum located across from the Wildberries Market is worth a visit, especially for the kids. It gives a very good introduction/overview to the natural history of the redwood coast. It is small, but packs in quite a few exhibits and hands on activities for the kids. I visit it a couple of times of year with my... More

We take our kids here a few times a year. They love it! They offer a lot to learn from local natural history to ecology.

Watching 2 children, ages 2-1/2 & 5, we were all mesmerized for over 2 hours! There are so many interactive displays for young children that are truly interesting, I was amazed. It has been many years since I have been to this petite museum, and it has really blossomed with intriguing educational exhibits. I would say it is especially engaging... More

The NHM is a relatively small museum with some nice displays and a modest set of books and other items for sale. Its not a bad place to visit for a 1/2 hour or so. The university had to close the NHM due to the CSU's everlasting budget problems, but funds were found to re-open the facility.

This is a small place but the kids enjoyed it. Very cheap to go only cost us $7 for 4 of us to get in. The exhibits they have on display are pretty cool. Over all a good place to take younger children.

Small but full of surprises! A great way to learn more about the natural environment in Humboldt. Plenty of activities for little ones & adults will learn along too. Definitely make it one of your visits, if only for 30 minutes to check out the display case with crabs & the live bee hive! (can you spot the queen?) Then... More

This museum is housed in an old bank and they have utilized the space admirably. There are many small exhibits that complement each other for a good overview of the Arcata ecological area. They have a variety of age level-appropriate activities. Most hands-on activities were geared towards smaller kids and they looked very fun and educational. Parents with small children... More
