We take our kids here a few times a year. They love it! They offer a lot to learn from local natural history to ecology.

The NHM is a relatively small museum with some nice displays and a modest set of books and other items for sale. Its not a bad place to visit for a 1/2 hour or so. The university had to close the NHM due to the CSU's everlasting budget problems, but funds were found to re-open the facility.
This is a small place but the kids enjoyed it. Very cheap to go only cost us $7 for 4 of us to get in. The exhibits they have on display are pretty cool. Over all a good place to take younger children.

They have a variety of age level-appropriate activities. Most hands-on activities were geared towards smaller kids and they looked very fun and educational. Parents with small children... More

It is a good stop for outsiders to get some context for all the beauty and science that makes up Humboldt County. Occasionally there are temporary exhibits with various animals, an earthquake simulation, and speakers. The shop has great... More
