It was our first visit to a cavern. We only took the shortest (1-hour) trip. It was a little damp so we were glat that we wore good tracking shoes. The electricity was out due to a fire a few months ago so we were given flash lights (and helmets), which surprisingly worked well in the dark cavern. You might... More

A very nice cave for good examples of many different types of cave formations. The walking tour (some low ceilings and slippery slopes) includes a pristine room with many forms and one of the largest columns in California. Great tour guide: Clarissa. We plan to return with reservations for the Middle Earth experience.

Great experience. We were the last tour of the day and our family were the only ones on the tour. Our tour guide was great with the girls and sang with them. She patiently answered many questions and was very knowledgeable. The tour itself was about an hour long and involved a few tight spaces and slippery spots but nothing... More

Our son enjoyed both the zipline and the rappelling; however, the zip line is a short one, lacking the awe of longer ones such as in jungles, etc. (but still fun.). We did not do the cavern exploration so this is a limited review

We weren't sure exactly what to expect at the time of booking because the pictures of the expedition don't do it justice. We arrived early to check in and our guide Bret (aka Beetle) greeted us by name. He explained everything we would be doing on the tour in detail. It was extremely hot outside but as soon as we... This is our second Cave visit in the area. Our first trip was 3 years ago to Mercer Caverns. This time California Caverns for a 4th grade historical site report. Our kids loved it and so did we. The area is beautiful. Just good family fun.

I can't believe we hadn't visited the cavern yet, it's so close! We took the short tour, which is 45 minutes to an hour long depending on the season. I would try to go during the dry season, as the caverns are blocked in several places by "lakes" in the wet season. It was interesting, and they have good lighting... More

Had a great time learning about the cavern and it's history. The docents were very educated and made the this a fun time for my kids and educational.

I dragged my hubby here but he loved it! We were the only 2 on our tour and our guide gave us a fantastic personalized tour. It is out in the middle of nowhere, no phone service, and everyone told us the gps took us the wrong way, but it was a fun morning tour. Would be great for kids... More
