bottom line - PAY FOR DAN TRIP INSURANCE. This was for the Farallon trip, but it's the same company with the same policies. Read this if you're considering not buying trip insurance. After checking weather reports and seeing clear skies and good weather, I chose not to buy trip insurance. They cancelled the trip several hours before we were to... more

well heck i'd wished i'd read these SPOT ON reviews of this trip before my wife and i and our couple friends wasted 3000 bucks total -we went to the wine country afterwards to warm up so all was not lost so i won't go on about the terrible visibility, the rather hidden 'eco' lures that lure only jellyfish etc... more

well, for those who do not know....THEY DO NOT CHUM!!!! that would pretty much guarntee a sighting, but they are not permitted to in that area. so, you are taking a chance with this trip. You have to know it upfront. from what i can see, most people dont see anything though they advertise 80% success rate. I highly doubt... more

I do not recommend this trip to anyone with a serious interest in viewing wildlife (especially sharks). A few highlights: 1) The boat was small, dingy and disorganized. We had 13 guests and our stuff was crammed in and under seats leaving little area to sit comfortably (for 12 hours I might add) 2) Lack of preparation or professionalism. The... more

Before booking our trip with Great White Adventures I read the mixed reviews on tripadvisor and other sites. We went into the trip a little uneasy because of several scathing reviews, however we were pleasantly surprised. The crew was knowledgable and very nice - and very upfront with us about weather conditions and chances of what we would see. Given... more

This trip should be called the Jelly Fish Adventures as that is the only thing we saw on the trip. It was an absolutely beautiful day (thank you nature) and we saw much wildlife on the way out to the islands.....however once in the cages you see nothing but mirky green water with no reference to anything alive..... except of... more

When we were ON the boat, we heard they hadn't seen sharks all season and after probing, we found out the chances of us actually seeing a great white were around 40% (and I think that was generous). The service was great and the people were great, but it's too much money to spend when they don't chum or do... more

Great White Adventures, Alameda CA. Leaving Emeryville CA. 10-09-07 From Scuba diver member,Mokena,IL First let me tell you that Great White Adventures will tell you that they have an 80 percent success rate at the Farallon Islands Site. This is NOT TRUE. Of the 13 divers and topside observers only one got a quick glimpse of the tail of a... more

I recently took a trip to the Farallons with Great White Adventures on Monday Oct 1, 2007. I as well as all the other members of the group were disappointed for the fact that we saw minimal/no shark activity (10 minutes after an attack with blood on surface). The website is misleading regarding the methods used to entice sharks to... more
