I had not been to Chewacla since I was a college student in the early '90s. Since then, they have added some fantastic mountain biking trails! I was very impressed! The lake area looked a little run down, but there were folks there cooling off from the heat.

A wonderful oasis very close to the Auburn University Campus. I haven't done the bike trail but it looks awesome. The hike to the waterfall is fairly easy and short.

I recently revisited Chewacla after a few years, and aside from the omnipresent mountain bikers, not much has changed. The park is clean and has an abundance of trails for hiking and biking at many levels of intensity. Getting to the bottom of the falls can be a bit tricky and requires some dexterity but is well worth it. This... More

Hike to the falls and you will be glad you did. Bring some food and liquids but don't leave your trash like too many others have done.

The park is beautiful and has hiking and biking trails. The trails go by the lake and waterfalls. There is a great little swimming area where you can also rent paddle boats and canoes, and even a diving board on a wooden 'island'. My kids had a fantastic day and so did we. We started at the Upper Pavilion and... More

I visited Chewacla on a Sunday afternoon, wanting to hike and enjoy the spring scenery. Chewacla is a large state park and offers camping, picnic pavilions, hiking and biking trails. I found a beautiful creek and walked several nearby trails. It was a great afternoon and a beautiful place. I can't wait to go back!

We visited the last weekend of April. The weather was perfect and we went to see the 'falls.' It was a beautiful, little 'hike' to the falls. Definitely wear shoes that have good soles! The rocks are slippery. Beautiful area and definitely worth an hour or so of your time. At $4/adult it ended up being a great, cheap afternoon.

Hiked Chewacla this morning ... very pretty and peaceful. Not sure how it gets in the summer, but it was 70 degrees (perfect!) today and we saw one other family there - not crowded at all. The waterfall was gorgeous and the lake was serene. Hiking was interesting and not boring - trails were rocky and fun!

We hiked to the falls, along a creek, and around the lake. Others were sunning, biking, playing frisbee, etc., but there is enough room for everyone. Great day.

Stopped off the interstate to geocache this park! The hiking and mountain bike trails are awesome! Caches are plenty! Every terrain you want is here for you! Will be back!
