My husband and I went here during the 4th of July weekend to get away from Chicago. The park is beautiful and so peaceful. We did a few of the trails and although they weren't difficult, they were enjoyable. Highly recommend this place if you need some time with nature. Also we didn't see many people at the park, especially... More

My husband and I camped here this past weekend. It is definitely a place that requires some planning to camp at, as we stayed at the closest campsite and it was just under a mile hike to the site. It was well worth the effort though, we did not see another person besides in the parking lot. It was a... More

Oct 19, 2013. Newport State Park is among my favorite state parks in WI on the Door County peninsula. It's in the far NE of the peninsula, so a little bit more removed (and a little less developed) and I've found more solitude and quiet (except for the sounds of nature) when hiking here than in other state parks here.... This is the side of Door County I prefer. It's quiet and wild, just what you'd want when you're trying to relax. The wife and I went walking for about a mile along the shoreand then circled back around to the hiking trail. It was very peaceful and a nice respite from the hectic summer action on Green Bay side... More

By far my favorite park in Door County. It is rare for me to see other hikers while exploring. I've been there in winter and summer and both seasons are spectacular. There is a small nature center/visitor's center with friendly staff/volunteers. We always enjoy our hikes.

This is one of my favorite parks in Door County. Rugged, lengthy trails and not crowded at all. Great beach and trails away from the crowds if you need a break.

We visited the park on our recent cherry-picking trip. It was too cold to swim, so we took the Lynd Point/Fern Loop from parking lot 3. The trail was great, fun for kids. The rock formations on the beach and in the forest were very cool. We have met very few people on the trail. Great alternative to Whitefish Dunes... More

This state park has hike in campsites only, which will require a little planning but is worth it. We saw no one while at camp. Trails are almost completely flat in terms of elevation. Some of the park materials and maps need to be updated: there is no drinking water available in the park except at the Visitor Center. Water... More

We spent a few hours here walking on the beach and through the forest, and the untouched nature is so nice to experience. The guide pointed out ostrich ferns that were blooming along one of the trails, and they were stunning. The trail was really easy, and fairly unused for Saturday in June. This park won't cost you much or... More

Good signage kept us from getting lost as we hiked two trails. One took us along the shore of Lake Michigan and some marshy areas where we saw 4 sandhill cranes. The paths were moderate in difficulty.
