Enjoyed the show. It was pretty funny. The Black Cat was grungy but OK. Bartender did right by us. We had a fun night.

My sister, niece and I visited the Black Cat to see comedians Sasheer Zamata (SNL) and Kenny Deforest. The tickets were AMAZINGLY reasonable for DC at $15! The format is VERY basic, chairs with a low stage, but I was on the third row and had no problem seeing. My long island iced tea was $13, which was pricey, but... More

Don't expect any type of lighting if you are seeing a band on the backstage. Also, be sure to not accidentally wash off your stamps you get at the door or they will threaten to throw you out when they randomly ask to see your hands while you are watching a band. They suggest not washing the tops of your... More

We saw a show with several acts, each with a different vibe. There were several points in the show where the sound was out of balance - music too loud, vocals too soft; feedback issues; at one point there was a persistent buzz behind the sound. The club was VERY dark, and there are several sections which are a step... More

I had a really terrible time at the Black Cat when going to see a small show on a Friday night. My friend (who was 18 at the time and completely sober) was kicked out right at the door, and the employees reasoning for this was decided by smelling her breath and determining that she was "wasted". There was NO... More

We traveled from South Jersey to DC to see one of our favorite performers. Super glad we did! This is a smaller venue and it was really laid back. We had a blast. Parking was a huge issue for us. We rode around for quite some time before we found a spot on the street. I didn't see any parking... More

Ridiculously hot and no one who works here cares. Both of the artists I saw apologized for the heat and their sweat. When I asked if anything could be done for the sauna In the concert hall, the bartender actually informed me with a snide,"Yes, rock and roll is hot." I like dive bars but when they are not so... great acts. I love the back bar (red room). I love how that hand write the acts for the month and stick it in the window. Nothing pretentious here, just hipsters and music lovers.

A very simple and dark place, no decor or ambiance. We went there in the early side (around 8pm) and we could find a table very early. The places around where already packed. The drinks are cheap.
