Ridiculously hot and no one who works here cares. Both of the artists I saw apologized for the heat and their sweat. When I asked if anything could be done for the sauna In the concert hall, the bartender actually informed me with a snide,"Yes, rock and roll is hot." I like dive bars but when they are not so... great acts. I love the back bar (red room). I love how that hand write the acts for the month and stick it in the window. Nothing pretentious here, just hipsters and music lovers.

A very simple and dark place, no decor or ambiance. We went there in the early side (around 8pm) and we could find a table very early. The places around where already packed. The drinks are cheap.

This is not one of my favorite venues in DC, but unfortunately it is necessary for lack of alternatives. Basically this is the smaller club a lot of acts play before getting big enough to fill the far far superior 9:30 club. The mainstage has a capacity of about 700 people vs the 1200 or so that 9:30 can hold.... More

Rude staff. Bartender accused me of stealing her bottle opener, I never even saw her with a bottle opener let alone stole it. I won't be coming back, too many other bars that value their customers in the city.

I love the Black Cat. It's kind of a mid range venue - not as large or as prominent as the 9:30 Club, but not as small as say, DC9. They tend to get a lot of great bands passing through, especially during the summers, and host quite a few very popular dance party events (their Eighties Mayhem Night is... More

Staff and manager are extremely rude to customers. Will never return. Cursed out for holding the door open for staff member with hands full. Manager said it was my fault for holding the door for a female.

What a complete let down. Overcrowded, loud, chaotic venue, rude hipsters, terrible service at the bar - would never go back. Even though the band was scheduled for just another hour, we all paid the $20 cover to meet up with some people who were already there. The guys at the front were taking money and double stamping hands as... More

The Black Cat is an anchor for the restaurants and bars in the area. The sound system in both music spaces is great. The staff is professional and as friendly as the can be on a busy night. Dante, keep of the good work. I have been there 4 times and it is refreshing to go there when I get... More
