Best place on the entire Washington Mall to stop, relax and have a snack. There is a large fountain with plenty of seating, just perfect to rejuvenate between museums. The sculptures themselves are lovely but I'm still partial to just sitting and relaxing.

This is a very beautiful art garden. Some of the pieces you have to walk around them to get the full effect. My favorite was the house that seemed to move with you as you walk around it.

This sweet little gem was full of people but it still felt peaceful. The fountain is beautiful and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the scenery or have a picnic.

Of course this was partly due to our perfect weather in the mid-70s, but I feel like this is a great gathering place for tourists, as well as locals. If you are lucky enough to be in town for one of their free outdoor concerts, do it!

It was my second visit in 20yrs. Things have changed. So many parked running tour buses. The pollutant from tens of buses drove me crazy. All the bag check ups, I understand but some people working there were very impolite. Their place was much better than ones in New york but some people still noisy and annoying. It seemed as... Didn't even know this little pocket existed. Such a great stop after the museum tour... water was a nice treat and you get to put your feet in... kids enjoyed that... I was hot and just glad to get them off my nerves for a few lol

Went last week and it was hot. I dragged the kids to this garden to see the sculptures but when we walked in all these people were sitting on the edge of the fountain dipping their feet in the fountain. What a great find! Can't tell you how content I was to just sit with my feet in the water... More

My daughter and I enjoyed a stroll around this gorgeous sculpture garden after spending hours indoors visiting museums. It has a wonderful variety of sculpture and a beautiful fountain along with a a cafe that made me feel like I was in Paris. It was a lovely place to sit and rest a while. Oh and by the way, starting... More

The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden is wedged between the Smithsonian’s Museum of American History and the National Gallery’s West Wing. Our visit began when we darted in off of the mall and found the transported art deco entrance of a Paris underground station. Immediately our rainy day April visit shifted into a fanciful time as we walked the... More

The Sculpture Garden next door to the National Gallery is a relatively small, but charming area. After doing much walking, it afforded us a chance to rest, regroup and appreciate some fine sculptures in the fresh air. A cafe and public restrooms are also available.
