We have been twice, midday Saturday and midday Sunday. Both times, it was wall-to-wall people and long lines. The food in every station looked and smelled incredible. Our first visit, vendors were giving out free tasting samples. We really wanted to have a meal (sampling food from various stations), but there was no place to sit except in the restaurant.... More

Fun to enjoy a quick meal while out and about in DC. Much better than a mall food court. Everything from sandwiches to soup, to coffee. Busy place on Saturdays.

Last time I visited this place, it was an old warehouse market that sold bulk vegetables and raw meat to restaurants and locals. It was the place to get rare asian vegetables and was open very odd hours. But that has changed! Best way to describe this is an upscale market with artisan stands (cheese, butcher, knives, etc) and the... More

Check days and hours. Walking distance from NoMa metro or Courtyard by Marriott. If you take a cab there, prepare to take Zuber back. Plenty of parking. Food to prepare plus prepared foods. Stylish. Seating indoors and out. Somewhat like Chelsea Market, too.

Don't miss Union Market whether you are a tourist or resident. I wish I had discovered it sooner. We went for a specific show (Crafty Bastards), but truly the gem was the market itself. The food choices are extraordinary and range from food trucks to ethnic delights (best pork buns EVER!) and a lovely seafood restaurant with terrific bloody marys... More

Union Market is mix of a farmer market offering fresh local fruit, meat etc. and of food stalls. The focus is on quality, so what you can get here you won't find in a regular grocery store. It's definitely worth the trip. Don't get there before 11am, they might still be unpacking.

I have to admit I am a bit biased because I live three blocks away, and have been able to see Union Market grow from its inception. While I have sampled something from every stand in the market, my favorites are Righteous Cheese, TaKorean, Toki Underground/Maketto Pop-Up, The District Fishwife, Cordial Wine and Spirits, and Trickling Springs Creamery. No matter... More

I had heard about Union Market, however, my visit convinced me of the many possibilities a diversity of peoples can bring into a place of convergence - food for all tastes. Where will you get free parking in Washington, DC seven days a week. To rejuvenate the area the variety of food and other consumables are a good motivator especially... More

I went to Union Market for the first time and once I got there, liked it. The neighborhood is very warehouse-y / sketchy and with a fenced parking (plenty of free parking!) lot it makes you wonder why it is fenced. Once you get in the market, it was a pleasant surprise! I met a friend and we walked around... More

I took the red line to NoMa and walked the few blocks -- not far -- but it wasn't worth the special trip. It's not a big place and there are few enough vendors that you can see all there is in about 15 minutes -- I kept wondering if I had missed something given all the hype. Sure, there... More
