I am a MLK supporter. However, I really do not like this memorial to him. The carved figure just doesn't do him justice. The quotes on the wall panels are the best part.

This thing is disgraceful. Dr. King looks Chinese, the sculpting seems totally fifth-rate, and the posture of this statue completely misunderstands and miscommunicates the message and the man. How did this awful thing happen?!

The wall, the statue, the wall with all the quotes were all just simply DOPE! The view you get from the water was actually pretty cool too!

Loved it all! The huge statue of Martin Luther King Jr. is gorgeous. I believe that was all of our favorite spot to see.

I took tons of pictures and really just watched as other people around enjoyed the memorial and... More

Its a shame it took until 2012 to build this memorial but in the end the USA has finally embraced a man that should still be alive today. Take your time and read all the inscriptions.

I LIKE MOST: Tall Sculpture of MLK, Sculpture of a divided mountain (where visitors enter), his famous quotations or statements inscribed at the walls. The front Area of this Memorial is beautiful - the Tidal Basin with views of the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial. Tips: Take the Metro since parking is limited at the Mall and areas near this... More

This memorial is fantastic. What a great tribute to Dr. King. Absolutely beautiful place to visit. My son really enjoyed this, especially the quotes along the wall flanking the statue of Dr. King.
