This monument is a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. carved in stone. Apart from the monument, there is also a few other stone pillars with carved messages on. Dr. Martin Luther KIng, Jr. is looking out over the big lake, where the Jefferson Monument is located on the other side.

The highlight of my trip to DC was my visit to the King Memorial. I was amazed at the number of people there, of all races & nationalities. The site itself is magnificent, and like Dr. King, it brings people together.

Loved the wall of quotes reminding us of the impacts words and this man's actions had on our country. One of the best sites to visit in D.C. and a must see for all Americans

I visited this monument on a weekday evening around 7pm, which allowed me to soak it in in relative privacy as only a few other people were around. It is worth walking around this monument slowly and looking at the depiction of Dr. King from different angles. I'm sure the effect is different depending on the day and the sky... More

This weekend was my third visit to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial. Each time I visit I am more impressed with the stone statue of Dr. King. The first time I saw it I did not feel it resembled Dr. King as much as I hoped. This weekend I sat and viewed it from the angle of... More

This is the first time I saw this and a few other Memorials. I think you can have different opinions about it. I think maybe it could have been more. Though, in the back there are two walls with MLK quotes. They are truly beautiful and for all time. I think that they will tell you what the man was.... More

The image of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is surrounded by a wall of quotes that capture the nature of the Civil Rights Movement. Also, there is a gift shop close by that sells a variety of King memorabilia that is worth stopping in for a look.

This monument looks like I t should be part of Mt. Rushmore and looks unfinished. It's still amazing and an honor to a very influential man in history. Don't miss it.
