Washington DC is by far the most gorgeous and lively cities I have ever visited. There is a very diverse selection of attractions, so there is something for everyone. Whether you are there for the history, the art, or the city life, it is never hard to find something to do. The most popular place to visit is the National... More

Loved all the museums, did not like all the walking. Favorite site was the Korean War Memorial. Would definitely recommend using the trolley.

This was our first place to stay for 3 nights. We'd had a package through Cruise 1st, of a cruise to New York, going straight to Washington by Amtrak, then moving on to Niagara Falls, and finally back to New York before cruising home again on QM2. The places we visited were each very different and we really enjoyed them.We... More

We had been to Washington D.C during April 2nd week 2014.It was the time for blooming of Cherry blossom flowers. It was a wonderful feeling walking near the edge of Potomac river among the cherry blossom trees. You can also see lot of memorials for American leaders like Abraham Lincoln & others. You can also get a view of Washington memorial pillar... More

As others have said, 5 days is not enough, but you can do so much in just a little time. Take a camera, suntan lotion, hat, and a long-sleeved shirt even in the summertime. The best and most economical way to see the attractions is via the Metro. Most times you can WALK easily to the majority of the sites.... More

The Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery was one of the most moving events I've ever seen in my life. There is no one alive today who is untouched by the powerful symbolism this exudes. It seemed like such a simple thing. We'd almost passed it by but then while touring... More

You will need to budget five days and still will miss some things. The good thing is that all of the government venues are free (your tax dollars at work) and most provide a guided tour then you can go back and visit in depth the things you missed, the Smithsonian Museum of American History and the Air & Space... As a Canadian, I felt it was a duty to visit our Canadian Embassy in Washington DC. I was embarrassed! No visitor centre. No information centre on Canada. And guess what...the Art Gallery contains printer copy photos on printer paper taped to the wall, REALLY? How gauche! Canada spent hundreds of millions of dollars on our Washington embassy, located steps... More

Went on a day trip to the Nations Capital. So much to see but we got there a little late in the afternoon. The weather was PERFECT! Visited the Smithsonian Museum, The Washington Monument, The Grassy Mall with the Capital Building in the back ground. The World War 2 Memorial was so inspiring but yet sad at the same time.... The WW2, Korean war and Viet Nam war memorials Are a moving experience for Veterans and non Veterans alike. The world war 2 memorial had me standing and staring in awe. The wall of 4000 gold stars. each star representing 100 Americans who died in the war ,- I can`t describe my feelings. I was wounded in the Korean war... More
