The american indian museum is GORGEOUS. We saw the spirit of the horse display. Very good! And if you have small kids this is a MUST STOP spot. On the 3rd floor there is a HUGE interactive play area that is clean, new and not crowded! Plenty of seating for parents to rest weary legs, and let the kids relax... More

Pick what you enjoy and take your time roaming through history, beautiful art and artifacts or science marvels. The American History Museum is not to be missed - but you need several days to really see it all.

You can come and go as you please, and not feel like you've wasted your money if you only want to go into a building to see one thing.

What I dislike? Well it's just so vast it was impossible to see it all on my short schedule. What I like? Everything I saw. A beautifully constructed interior to each of the buildings I went into. Something for everyone. Go there!

All of the Smithsonian museums are free, and have some of the best exhibits I've ever seen and, trust me on this, my wife is a teacher and has dragged me around museums all over the world. The Air & Space is without parallel, and the Natural History is not quite up to the one in London, but very close.

There are over 15 museums and traveling with middle school and elementary school children, we decided on the Air/Space Museum and the Natural/American History Museums. Street parking was a bear last time and limited to 2-3 hours in certain... More

All the museums that make up the Smithsonian Institute are worth a visit. Allow 2-3 hrs for most museum visits. The Smithsonian castle is a great photo op and often has special exhibitions.
