You can't go wrong with The Smithsonian Institution, there is tons to do! My person favorite is the National Gallery of Art. They had a special Spanish private exhibit showing when I went and it was Fabulous! I must say the information and tourism directors could be a little more direct and responsive. Nonetheless they are sufficient and D.C. seems... more

I was really impressed with the Metro system. It took a little planning but after a few days we were able to go where we needed to go without much trouble. The Smithsonian museums were exceptional. Something for everyone and free. We were there for 9 days and saw so much but we will still need to go back to... more

After walking around the various monuments and musuems downtown DC had to offer, my favorite place of the day had to be the Gardens at the Smithsonian Castle. They are located behind the Castle (facing away from "The Mall"). It was a wonderful place to just relax and rejuvenate, but I also found it to be a great place to... more

We took the kids (ages 19 and 15) top the museums that interested them most: air and space, natural history, national zoo and american history. The zoo and the museums were great. Washington in the Mall and monuments area needs a lot of work. The public fountains were not working and there were temporary fences surrounding most of the open... more

The Smithsonian is so large, diverse, and well-done that you could spend weeks there and never be bored. There are actually a number of museums (history, art, air and spece, etc) and all are the best of their type. more

We went for a July 4th trip and visited the various Smithsonians, and agree that it's hard to beat as a value, since they're all free. But our dining experience at the National Museum of Natural History has caused me to drop my rating from Excellent to Very Good. I fully expect Washington to be more expensive than other places... more

Just got back from visiting the American History, Natural History and the American Indian Museums in DC. LOVED the American History Museum and could have spent 2 days in it, it was amazing. I was disappointed that the line for the First Ladies exhibit was way too long to wait in. Had too much else to see. The Lincoln exhibit... more

we recently went to the Smithsonian natural history museum & loved it. Definitely go see the special exhibits as they were fantastic. We saw the best of nature photographs & they were totally awesome. We also saw the orchid exhibit & if you like orchids you will love the exhibit. We also see a very good presentation by NOAA about... more

Very disappointing. If you were there before the renovations you will understand. The "First Ladies" exhibit was always one of our favorites. NOT KNOW!! When we made a complaint at the information desk ...we had several of the docents tell us they hear it all the time. So if you are going with high hopes of seeing the "First Ladies"... more

The Smithsonia offers 15 museums each unique. There is so much history and items to marvel at from the Hope Diamond to the Air and Space Museum. Entrance to the museums is surprisingly free and would take days to see each one thoroughly. Pick a few favorites and plan on seeing others on the next visit to DC more
