Unfortunately, it was sprinkling and there were hundreds of middle-school aged children running around sliding on the pavement. This was very distracting and made our visit to the memorial less enjoyable. The memorial itself is an amazing sight and well-worth a visit. The Reflecting Pool was very...

Like other reviewers, it takes a LONG time to walk down to this if you're coming from the Washington Monument; I'd say a good 30 minutes if you're taking a leisurely stroll like I was. Much bigger than expected once you actually get up to the top; fairly easy to get to, and near some parks and refreshment areas. Nice to sit around the side and relax for a break.
To be reminded of the great man and president Lincoln was is worth the hassle to get there. The reflecting pool was kinda nasty. The ducks and their ducklings in it were adorable.
Whether you visit the Lincoln Memorial during the day or at night - there is something inspirational about being within the walls of the building and reading the inscribed Lincoln speeches - Do spend some time sitting on the steps and looking over the reflecting pool - an experience you will not want to miss -
The great man, watching over the pool, the mall, and the capitol. A moving statues, flanked by equally moving carvings of the Gettysburg address and his second Ingagural speech. I am not American and I cried looking upon one of the greatest leaders the world has ever produced.
This is a must-see on any trip to Washington D.C.! So inspiring and amazing to feel a part of the history there.
My fellow rewievers being in washington d.c and noy visiting Abe Lincoln memorial and the great statue its not you so should be one of your first visit during your visit so be Abe and be American.
This is simple and lovely. We were fortunate enought to see it in the daylight up close and then again in the evening from one of the balconies at the Capital Building. Lincoln's Memorial is just beautiful.
