This scenic route was recommended to us by a relative who lives in Washington. You see mountains, wooded area, lakes and beaches. Spanish Bay with its oyster beds for great to see.

We took the drive to get away from the freeway and how refreshing it was. Views of Samish Bay, hikes around Larabee State park, oysters at Oyster Creek Inn. Nice way to find Fairhaven and Bellingham.

Just north of Seattle, Route 11 is known as Chuckanut Drive. This scenic highway is short but breathtakingly beautiful. Mountains, Lakes and beautiful Firs. Must stop and take in the beauty of this treasure.

On a hot summer day in a Miata, this is a pleasant drive. It is nice to get off of the I-5, enjoy a few twisties and drive in the cool shade of the trees. We went north to south. We started at Fairhaven (worth a stop). The drive is not long. It is a bit narrow and if you... More

Beautiful scenic drive along Samish Bay with several "pull over" spots (along with some, mainly oyster, restaurants). Though the water view is sometimes obscured by the very tall trees (and stunning homes) it is totally worth it. A nature photographer's dream. We have driven this road many times going from one place to another instead of taking the highway, as... More

This beautiful scenic drive takes you along the shoreline of Samish Bay, north of Seattle. You’re driving along the cliffside in somewhat winding roads with trees on both sides. Aside from the occasional jerks who want to use the road as a semi-race course, it is a very pleasant drive and you experience a quintessential northwest passage. However, to get... More

We have taken this road several times and are always pleased. Since it is narrow and with many curves, you will have to slow down. But for us that is part of the pleasure. There are a variety of turnouts so you can see the islands and boat traffic. There are State Parks and trails (which cost about $5.00 per... More

Beautiful vistas in most parts of the drive...; narrow road in some areas so, better be careful. Tall trees along the way. We stopped by near Larrabee State Park and had the chance to see some of the islands in Samish Bay/ Bellingham Bay. Gorgeous views!

Not being able to see the water during the whole drive didn't bother us, actually it made it easier to avoid traffic accidents on the narrow curvey road. We stopped at a few places along the way to enjoy the view and take pictures. Went on a few hikes we found, we didn't need a map we just parked where... More

Chuckanut Drive early in the morning is ideal for those who love the rainforest mist and cool breeze. The thick trees and leaves result to dappled sunlight which make the drive beautiful. If you want an unencumbered view of the ocean for long stretches of the drive, you'd be disappointed. Take the turnouts to enjoy the view. My husband and... More
