After driving on the Natchez Trace Parkway earlier in our road trip, we decided to drive a section of this parkway as well. We entered in Roanoke and drove along this road for probably an hour or so and I wish we had more time to see more of it. The section closer to Asheville has the tunnels so I... More

It was a nice drive, did not see much for wild life, we are from the Adirondacks in upstate NY around the Lake Placid area and this is not what we expected, but still it was a nice ride. More

We spent 3 days in the Shenandoah/Blue Ridge parkway area in April. We spent half a day each day touring the drive or parkway. It was a bit too much. The views while driving (trees) and from the lookouts (distant hazy valleys) were very much all the same and got a bit boring. I think a day on one of... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The road was so well maintained and the scenery was spectacular. However, I would have so benefited and enjoyed having the Blue Ridge Parkway Directory and Travel Planner with the Mile Post Markers. But all the ranger stations were closed and the Directory was unavailable. Download it from online before... More

I can't get enough of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's amazing. Awe inspiring views around every turn. It's a wonderful road. Well maintained by the National Park Service. There are many nice places to pull of the road and take spectacular pictures. The best times of the year to go are in the spring while the trees are budding or... More

Living in Va. we are at the get on/ get off point for the Blue Ridge Parkway depending on if you are coming from the North or South. We decided to make this trek in Oct. when fall foliage makes the journey all the more magnificient. The trek is 469 miles from Va. to N.C. You can do whatever length... More

This was the best trip. There are no stop signs, no commercial vehicles, no billboards, just nature at its best. Definitely get the book from the parkway showing all the milemarker sites and read the rules. 45 mph top speed. Best road trip and we included going through North Carolina. During this time of year the tourist season has not... More

Since I was a child, I have enjoyed this drive. Anytime of the year (some parts are closed in winter - check website for info) this scenic drive will feed your senses and refresh your soul. Sound like a little much? Try it and tell me I'm wrong. Take a camera because every direction you look is amazing. From wildlife... More

I went in the off season in March. The visitor centers were all closed. The trees had not yet produced their new leaves. Nevertheless, the vistas and waterfalls were beautiful. The river running through the parkway was spectacular. My only wish would be to see more wild life. I saw more on the North Carolina section of the Blue Ridge... More

This ride was just fenomenal.. The views, the winding roads, nature surrounding you.. Fabulous! Be aware that the parkway can be partially or entirely closed in the winter. When I drove up there, there were 20-25 miles available. But still, best drive ever! More
