We traveled the southern half of the Blue Ridge Parkway during the fall. It was a terrific drive. Wear your hiking shoes, there are many trails to explore. Be sure to bring your camera, beautiful views around every corner. more

We caught the parkway around Deep Gap coming from Winston-Salem and it was exquisite. We visited on May 1, 2008 and it was very quiet, no traffic and just gorgeous. It was hard not to stop and take pictures at every stop. There was a detour due to clearing downed trees at one point and ended up in Floyd, Virginia... more

The BRP is worth its weight in gold. While the colors in the spring and autumn might be beautiful, something is lost when there are a lot of cars on the road. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a natural wonder! We drove down from Ohio to see the Smoky Mountains. We then headed toward Cold Mountain for a picture. The vistas are beautiful. The drive is quite pleasant. Do not try to rush through the area. The curves up and down the mountains will insist that you slow down and enjoy! more
