I was born here and the last time back was 2013. We visited Blue Point mostly with stops in Patchogue, Bayport, Sayville, Islip and Ronkonkoma last week. The people that we interacted with were all very nice. Unfortunately it was very cold with quite a bit of snow on the ground and it actually snowed on last Saturday and a... More

Most notable attractions are about 30+ miles from each other, meaning you'll be spending much of your vacation stuck in traffic. Some good historic attractions, such as Old Bethpage and Westbury Gardens. But, other than Coney Island (which is technically NYC) or Atlantis Marine world, there's nothing here for kids. Crime rates and drug use has also steadily increased over... More

Stay away this is the most terrible place I have ever been. I have been all over the world and long island is the absolute worst. The people are fake, cheap, arrogant, and racist. They are so bipolar in their behavior the island has become like some kind of mental asylum. The place is expensive for no good reason, it... More

I live hear so the review is one sided but if you want to visit a place that has it all and is close enough to the city to do even more. Beatiful beaches nice hotels and everything else all in one place.

Long island is very quiet and clean with not too many tourists. It would be a great place if you are tired of the noisy new york. It’s just like the long island in Japan after World War II. With that bomb, everything restarts. The first stop is definitely Lavender by the bay (7540 New York 25, East Marion, NY... More

My husband and I hired a car for 2 days to explore the island. However it proved to be larger than we anticipated and we only managed to veiw a small part of it. But is was great fun exploring and a nice respite from the city.

Long Island NY is not what you may picture! Expensive, over-priced, run down, and boring. It seems like some folks like to go to a lot of trouble to get to a crappy spot. Well, if you are one of those Long Island NY is the place! Over priced is to put it mildly! They have a corner on the... More

Having lived on Long Island most of my life I can attest to the horrendous traffic, and even the occasional rudeness of people. But there are treasures to be found if you know what to look for. It is NOT the typical tourist location however and I wouldn't make this a vacation desintation except in certain circumstances. Such as -... More

The people of Long Island are the rudest of them all. I think it's the overwhelming traffic that makes them that way. They are all self absorbed and do not care one stitch about those around them.
