This may be the worst-maintained course I have every played. The course itself has a very nice layout with wonderful views of the surrounding landscape. However, the earthen cart paths and the absolute lack of maintenance on each and every tee, fairway and green make this a place to avoid.

I liked the layout a lot but this course is poorly maintained. It's best days may be behind it. The fairways were a dandelion field, decent greens but a few were chopped up. Little service, needs a better restaurant

We thank you for your response. Our new management team has been in control of the course since May of 2014. At that time the course was basically dead with 1/3 of the greens dirt and the entire course weeds. We have worked very hard to get the course back into a presentable condition and know that by late summer... More

This is a typical golf course in a Mesa environment. Great views, some pretty holes. The course was in good condition, they'd recently sprayed for weeds/dandelions in the fairways which were all dying off so you moved your ball a little to hit it. Greens rolled average, not quick. We paid senior price for $57 per player. Green Chile burger... More

By friends and I recently took a road trip from Denver down to Santa Fe. On our last day there we played a round of golf at Black Mesa. I have played at some pretty cool courses in the past and this experience definitely blew them all away! The course was unique, fun to play, and offered unbelievable views of... More

greens were aerated this week so will be good soon. Fairways are fine, not plush. I'd go back again tomorrow if I could. For the views and stupendous challenges. The back top of the roof of your cart gives the yardage. Casual and well, I just really enjoyed this course today. But pick a tee marker one up, or three... More

Like many reviewers, I was disappointed the course was allowed to decline to such a point as it did last year. For whatever reasons, it was reported to me by two different staff members when I played the course on March 9 that they did not water last year. The course suffered mightily as a result. However, this month when... More

Santa Clara Indians own the land and now own the course. Played it last weekend and the course was not in very good shape, but have to realize it is only mid March. My wife and I could not believe they raised the price up to $67 with a cart up $20 from last year. What bothers us the course... More

The design of this golf course is excellent, the strategy chosen off the tee had a significant impact on your score. I also like the feeling of isolation as the routing has few holes that are side by side. The conditions were excellent. The course was challenging but fair - multiple plays are necessary to post your best score here.... More

I come to Santa Fe every couple of years and Black Mesa had been one of my favorite courses anywhere. I played it this morning at a steeply discounted rate. However, conditions were so bad that I quit after 9 holes. Even the tee boxes are overgrown in some places. Steps up to one tee box were covered with growth.... More

My wife and I played this course in early September 2014 during our trip from Taos to Santa Fe. We found the reception very friendly. The course was in very good condition, especially the greens. The scenery was outstanding. The green fees were very inexpensive for a top course, and the course was relatively empty. It is a tough and... More
