Not bad for a state park. We went over the 4th of July weekend. Our site was in the Old Logging section and on the back corner. GREAT site if you want to have a little seclusion from the rest of everyone else. Fishing was not awesome or maybe our research wasn't, not very much for great water access if... More

we booked in for 4 nights at the beginning of June 2015, we survived 2 nights The Mosquitos were the worse I have ever camped in, they seriously need to do a spray program, to get campers in, stayed in the old logong road, loop, wanted some trees to tarp from, as we had some rain in the forecast, this... I have been to many parks and have done a lot of camping, and this park was one of the most disappointing I've ever been to. In fact, we checked out early just because we wanted to get out of there. Never done that before. Issues were as follows: The campground was horrid--the minute we got out of our car,... More

The size of this state park literally boggles the mind. This has to be one of the larger state parks in the state. I have been out here on a couple different occasions for hiking. This last time I got to see the campgrounds and they looked really nice and clean. The river was beautiful the day I came and... More

We camped in the Riverview campground on July 11-13th, 2014. With over 33,000 acres, this park could give more space to the campgrounds. The Old Logging Trail campground had quite a few nice and private sites but the others were right on top of each other. There is 127 miles of hiking trails, however, you can not hike them because... My husband and I stayed here July 3 & 4. The campgrounds were near capacity, which we expected for the holiday. Despite the large number of people, it was still quiet and private. The trails are both fun and beautiful with historical tidbits posted throughout the entire park. I highly recommend the drive out to the fire tower unless you're... More

If you and or your kids are bored, it's your own fault :) There is so much to see and do at this largest of Minnesota State Parks. There are interpretive programs for all ages, miles of hiking trails, interpretive centers, canoe and kayak rental, etc. This park would have an "excellent" rating but for the issue of so many... Very buggy- ticks and mosquitoes- yard spray, candles, and Off insect spray only helped a little. Family things- climbing the fire tower (parking lot right there), geocaching (borrowed a gps from the park, 3 caches, all near the trail and within 1/2 mile of the nature center), playground, and beach. The beach and playground were especially buggy, more so than... More

We had the Jackpine cabin- This cabin is nice mini fridge, stove and oven all utensils provided and a toilet and sink. However there are no blinds on the windows. You are set away from other campers but at night with the lights on walking up the path to the bathroom they can see you- we had someone walk through.... More
