Stayed at the MN State Park, Wild River Campground for two nights while attending Hay Days. Made a few calls to try to work out some of the details on the camping. Each time I called my calls were handled by professional well informed people. I ended up making the reservations online. I am glad I did, I think I... More

This review is based soley on MN State policy rather than on the campground itself. On Memorial Day weekend it's hard to get camping reservations anywhere without a 3 night guarantee. Our family booked 3 nights, knowing we could only use 2, but in short, when we didn't show up the first night the MN DNR not only GAVE our... More

The park was beautiful and calm when we went. There were a lot of mosquitoes, but it had just rained, and the mosquito spray kept them off. Very easy trails, but not very scenic. Many trails look like they go by the river but just go through the woods. Also some of the trails are hard to find because there... More

Campsites are nice and secluded. Good trails for hiking, not a lot of opportunities for biking. Saw a few snakes, several mosquitoes, and a lot of ticks! Ticks are not surprising, but early in the season is going to make for a long summer here. The river was high due to recent rains, so shore fishing was spotty at best.... More

First of all, let me say that the state park is beautiful and worth visiting. This review is not about the park itself - it only involves the Guest House. I gave the Guest House 2 stars instead of 1 because its location is awesome! You are completely surrounded by woods and peace and quiet. But inside the house is... More

I've been to this park a few times and never have been too impressed with it. They have a nice nature center and some pretty decent bike trails. The river area is pretty lackluster especially when compared to Interstate state park. The insects were pretty bad when I came thru this summer. In the winter the hiking is especially boring.... Great campground and park. Beautiful wooded sites with more privacy than most campgrounds. Only depressing things were that water could be a little hotter in showers and shower heads mounted higher so I didn't have to bend down to get my head in water. (And i'm not THAT tall! We fished almost everyday all week and never caught anything but... More

Stayed in Camper Cabin (CC) #6, this is adjacent to a paved trail and further away from the toilet. The trails are nice but poorly marked. After staying in the Bemidji CC, I was confused since Wild River had no interior trash can. I called the Ranger Station and they had no idea if their was supposed to be one.... More

Just got back from a weekend camping trip to Wild River State Park. We had a great time during our first visit to this park. The first things I noticed were the friendly staff, the quietness throughout the park, and the beautiful and private camp sites. Each campsite is separated from the next, as they are set inside the wooded... More

My family and I tent camped in site A7 for four days and three nights over Memorial Day weekend 2009. Most of the sites in loops A and B are heavily wooded; the sites close to the access road are generally a bit less wooded. Our site, and most sites, have good spacing and privacy. The restrooms and showers are... More
