If passing through or you like bears, this is a very nice place to view black bears. Takes about 1-1/2 hours. We saw over 50 black bears on Sept 1, 2013. There is a nice viewing platform so you are out of harms way. It was unknown to us and a very pleasant surprise. We are not huge fans of... More

The Bear sanctuary is well worth the visit. The black bears are so amazing to see in their natural habitat. They are free to come and go as they please as the sanctuary is completely open. Its only the humans that are restricted to an open viewing platform! You arrive at the centre and park up and then are bussed... More

Today was our third time there and we will definitely go back. There were many bears and spring cubs that were so adorable. It is an amazing educational experience for children about bears. I highly recommend this over the other bear place in northern MN.

Been there twice and is the best place ti see and photo black bears. If you can pay the extra and spend the whole day at ground level with these beautiful animals. They come really close. To bad hunters have to shoot them for fun!

I first visited Vince's sanctuary with my daughter in 1997. The platform had been built, but the small parking area was still adjacent to the feeding area. A volunteer met us at our car and escorted us down a path to the viewing area. On the way we passed within a few feet of several bears already dining! Today a... More

My husband and I visited here on our honeymoon 16 years ago before the platform was built. I even had the oportunity to meet and talk with Vince Shute back then. Everything on that day was so amazing that we thought we would be disappointed. We learned there is no way we can be disappointed with this place. We loved... More

Imagine 20-30 wild bears having dinner and they are all there for you to watch... Ok, they are only "half wild" as they come to this spot for food all the time. But still, they live in the woods, there are no fences to keep them, they can come and go as they please. It was the most amazing experience.... More

I keep coming back to this place every other year or so. It's so fun to see the bears in their element and to hear the volunteeres lecture about them. The platform is perfectly safe. You can learn so much from the volunteeres about bear's antural habits and behaviors. Plan for weather.

We were privileged to visit the Bear Sanctuary yesterday and we were awed by what we found. It is probably the one of, if not the only places of its kind in the world. It is completely non-profit. It's a little out of the way and "in the rough", but well worth it. We spent almost 2 hours there. When... More
