I live in the Upper Peninsula and it's great. It's a wonderful place to raise a family. It's beautiful up here, the lakes, beaches, trees, etc. I'll be the first to admit that we don't have alot of choices in restaurants, malls and other things that a big city has to offer but we can always go visit a city!!... I have driven across and visited the UP before, but last week did a 2 day drive in the Keweenau; just beautiful! We drove along Lake Superior on Five Mile Road and loved the views, up to Copper Harbor and then back south through Houghton, Baraga and L'Anse to Marquette. Highly recommend if you have never made the trip!

I went to the upper Michigan with my wife this fall. It is really an unforgettable experience when we drive along the road beside the lake and the foliage became yellow and red. The colorful season made it really comfortable to drive or walk on a trail in the state park. I like this area very much!

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan covers such a diverse area..unbelievable that it is listed as a single attraction! My husband's family are from north of St Ignace and my grandfather was born on the Keewanau. We both grew up downstate, but areYoopers at heart. We love the UP! The wildness of Lake Superior, remoteness of Isle Royale, walking Lake Michigan's... More

We stayed at the Straits State park campground, the campground was so nice with a lot of grass and friendly staff, There is so many things to do, a weekend is not enough to see and do everything.

If you have an RV. you will want to camp at the Union Bay Campground in the Porcupine Mountains State Park. While this is a newer campsite, it seems awfully open and crowded. Sites can be found right along the Lake Superior shoreline, but beaches are farther away. Like most Michigan campgrounds, there is no water, only electrical hookups and... More

This is our second year traveling to the Way Dam Resort in Crystal Fall, MI. The weather was beautiful. Crisp, cool mornings, warm afternoons, and cool nights around the fireside. While we miss a good cup of coffee (at a coffee shop), we are never disappointed with the scenery!

Just returned from 5 days in the UP. Every time I visit, I marvel at the pure beauty of this enchanting place. I'm a world traveler and while in the UP I can see Alaska, Ireland, Nova Scotia and a host of other places -- the UP is all that and more! Small, small towns, nice people, wonderful scenery! The... The lake was beautiful, the water was wonderful. But we had to leave due to the infestation of mosquitoes, flying ants . Dispersed camping sight where hiking in is the only way to get there. After we left we spoke to some folks and they said it is really bad this year. Take your bug sprays and yard guard!

We always love visiting the Upper Peninsula. The people are so friendly and there is always a ton to see and do. This visit was packed full of High School Graduation activities but we did have a little down time to enjoy a couple bonfires and some mushroom hunting. We only found caps which are not really edible but it... More
