I've read through the posts about the U.P. of Michigan, but for a southern girl, I need instructions how to get there. What is the closest commercial airport? I had read somewhere that cars weren't allowed on parts of the peninsula. Don't know if that's true. Of course all I know of the area is from the movie Somewhere In... More

This park on the shore of Lake Superior has a wide range of hiking opportunities, and an easy short path to look to the south over Lake of the Clouds. Don't miss the waterfalls (there are several). The walk to the observation tower is also worth the short hike. If you are looking to camp, there are some gorgeous sites... More

It is a beautiful place we stayed at the Tahquamenon Hotel in Hulbert MI. It is a perfect distance from the main attractions in the UP. It is right in the middle of Newberry and the Sue Locks and not to mention 20 minutes from Paradise and the Falls. Great place and great owners. Visit Oswald’s bear Ranch and. Whitefish... More

I have been going to the U.P. since I was a kid. And still to this day it makes me feel so amazing! There is so much to do there and see. If you love nature and lakes and just feeling relaxed, the U.P. is for you! Some people don't like the bugs, but hey, your in the middle of the woods,so... More

It's a peak year for Northern Lights and the summer is supposed to be hot and dry. Now is your chance to rent a cottage up north and enjoy it for all the beautiful waterfalls and scenery, both day and night. The stars and the sky are so clear and it is so calm and relaxing...make a trip up north... More

I live in the Upper Peninsula and it's great. It's a wonderful place to raise a family. It's beautiful up here, the lakes, beaches, trees, etc. I'll be the first to admit that we don't have alot of choices in restaurants, malls and other things that a big city has to offer but we can always go visit a city!!... I have driven across and visited the UP before, but last week did a 2 day drive in the Keweenau; just beautiful! We drove along Lake Superior on Five Mile Road and loved the views, up to Copper Harbor and then back south through Houghton, Baraga and L'Anse to Marquette. Highly recommend if you have never made the trip!

I went to the upper Michigan with my wife this fall. It is really an unforgettable experience when we drive along the road beside the lake and the foliage became yellow and red. The colorful season made it really comfortable to drive or walk on a trail in the state park. I like this area very much!

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan covers such a diverse area..unbelievable that it is listed as a single attraction! My husband's family are from north of St Ignace and my grandfather was born on the Keewanau. We both grew up downstate, but areYoopers at heart. We love the UP! The wildness of Lake Superior, remoteness of Isle Royale, walking Lake Michigan's... More

We stayed at the Straits State park campground, the campground was so nice with a lot of grass and friendly staff, There is so many things to do, a weekend is not enough to see and do everything.
