This was our first stop while visiting the park. The small information center has lots of information available and some books on natural history available for purchase. There are clean bathrooms available as well. The gardens are not huge but very pleasant and there are names in many of the plants. In this area there are also some really nice... More

I was truly amazed by the wild gardens. There are areas of different habitats found on Mount Desert Island. In these areas, the plants are labeled, from grasses to wild flowers to shrubs to trees. If you've ever taken an interest in native plant life, this is a wonderful place to visit. I saw so many plants of which I've... More

This was one of my favorite features of Acadia Nat'l Park. I was there around 8am, and the lack of a crowd was very nice. The area was set up with little representations of ecological areas (coniferous forest, pond, marsh, etc.,) and most of the plants had identifying plaques. Frequent benches offered seats with lovely, shaded views. A LOT of... More

I have to admit, I was not super excited to visit the wild gardens...but how wrong was I!!! It was an awesome experience...I saw so many beautiful flowers, plants, etc. I even learned a lot. Took a great hike around the area. Spent about three hours exploring. It was awesome!

We went to the neighborhood shown on the map, buy there is only a Seal Harbor neighborhood there. The actual location for the wild gardens is in the Park, on the loop road.

We stopped to see the wild gardens after visiting the beautiful Asticou Gardens in NE Harbor. Two very different experiences and I suspect more flowers would be in bloom in June. However, the concept of viewing different natural habitats does make the rest of your visit more interesting. You will see more than a dozen if you spend any time... More

This quite small garden on the edge of Acadia National Park contains plants representative of 12 different habitats on Mount Desert Island. The plants are clearly labelled by common name and biological genus species nomenclature. Several attractive paths go through the garden but because of the small size you see the people on the nearby paths. The paths are probably... More

I wanted to check this out to see the different plants that are in Acadia. The gardens are really pretty with benches set up and the plants are set up by the type of area they are in (forest, marsh, etc. ) I would of spent more time in the gardens if it wasn't inundated with bugs.
