We wanted to take a break from all of the fast paced sight seeing we were doing and decided to visit one of the city beaches for some relaxation. We went to Oak Street Beach, which is along North Lake Shore Drive. The water at the beach is not an ocean. It is actually Lake Michigan. I can now finally... More

Call me crazy, but I do even enjoy the lake in winter. Anyhow...there are so many great parks along the lake, as well as, of course, the Lakefront Trail. There are little places to peel off to the lake at that are not parks as well, and you can just enjoy some solitude and nature in the midst of the... More

Spend Thrift fishing trip on Lake Michigan (from Waukegan Harbor) is one of the best when it comes to no sweat fishing fun in the middle of Lake Michigan. They know where the fishes are and you will come home not empty-handed but DNR quota maxed with fresh Lake Michigan salmon and trout within a few hours. Would be fun... More

Having left Los Angeles to find myself in the crime riddled city of Chicago I often wondered why people love it here so much. People, by and large will constantly say, it's the greatest place to be during the summer. This of course rubs me the wrong was as there are only about 90 days of actual summer. When we... More

This lake that borders Chicago Is so great and fascinating to even look from the plane just before you land. No doubt on how beautiful it would be when you go and stand near the lake. Its more like an ocean, looks so deep, so huge and vast with continuous waves. The blue waves are so cool. That evening, the... More

It's one of the five great lakes. And Lake Michigan is certainly a great lake! Gotta love Chicago and Lake Michigan.

Although it is called a lake, Lake Michigan is more like a inland sea with it's beautiful blue or emerald green water. It provides a great backdrop to a beautiful city like Chicago and the breezes are a great relief on a warm summer day. It's beautiful no matter if you go up to Milwaukee, the Indiana Dunes, or the... Lake Michigan couldn't possibly be a lake maybe a fresh water Ocean if their is any such thing. Big and beautiful with a Chicago skyline that just puts the icing on the cake what a beautiful city with one of the greatest back drops (lake Michigan) I have ever seen.

Incredibly beautiful, clean beach right near the city. Beautiful crystal clear water FREEZING but refreshing. September was a great time to visit, loads of beach volleyball courts - enjoy an ice pop from the beach vendor and a nap in the sun before finding a bike to explore the city with

You can walk or cycle along this lake, the scenery is really nice. There's sand on the line making it look like a beach, you see people playing beach volleyball. Great place to be for sunset as well, beautiful colours in the sky.
