When we first walked in, it didn't smell too bad. When we walked in the dressing room, I couldn't help myself from gagging by the smell. Once I started looking around, I saw what appeared to be mold on the ceiling and walls. spider webs were everywhere as well as spiders. any type of metal was beginning or in the... More

I’m going to address both “Most likely won’t come again” and “Spider Central” together, as I believe you both came to Givens with the same group, and have some of the same concerns. First, for “Spider Central”--A Background on Hot Springs in Idaho, 101. There are approximately 110 remote, undeveloped hot springs in Idaho, and 25 developed ones (more hot... More

Went there for a birthday party today-- was disgusted. The water was alright, however the facility needs major, & I mean MAJOR work. Daddy Long Legs EVERYWHERE, mold on ceilings, rust, & smelled of urine. It was my first time at a hotsprings & I was extremely disappointed. My friends were the only thing that made it worth while. I... More

This popular type hot spa is looked forward to by nearly everyone, so passing through we chose to stop the night in our RV. We noticed that the building is now being changed into a tropical tree growing venue as coming down through the roof, was a very large branch which in the future will be a very good bungy... More

Humorous and interesting cultural perspective of our place from Queensland, Australia! The “tropical tree growing venue” you mentioned is a volunteer trumpet vine which makes its way through the roof every spring. We don’t discourage it. About the middle of summer, it produces beautiful salmon-colored trumpet flowers—a lovely addition to the décor in the poolhouse. We don’t recommend bungee-jumping from... More

Historic yes; in the way of needing a major overhaul. Filthy, run down and smell as if your swimming in urine.

I'm sorry your visit wasn't all you had hoped it to be. As for the building needing a "major overhaul," we are constantly overhauling. There is always something on a 62-year-old building that needs attention; especially one in a humid environment. Every year we finish major projects, but as I've mentioned in other responses, we do them as time and... More

Love the hot spring water but the facilities are run down. I understand that it is a historic site but there was quite a bit junk lying around the grounds and the inside seemed to have some mold growing. The gentleman at the front check in was very kind. I wanted to like this place better, I just feel that... More

Thank you for your visit; and for the review, which allows to address some issues. We appreciate your "wanting to like the place better," and hope you'll try us again another time. As for a good "overall cleaning," we do that on a regular basis. We vacuum the pool a couple times a week--more if needed. The water is constantly... More

I was at Givens Hot Springs outside Murphy, ID. several times during my time in Boise, ID. in the 1990's. It's a wonderful little jewel, hidden behind some cottonwood trees, near the Snake River. There is a huge Olympic-sized swimming pool that is geothermally heated, plus there are private individual rooms where you can soak in the sunken tubs with... More

Thank you for your thoughtful review, Angie, and we're glad you've enjoyed your visits here! We feel truly blessed to be stewards over this wonderful Idaho geothermal water, and the beautiful Owyhee county setting in which it's located. The two most gratifying aspects of both for us are the enjoyment of families and others who come for recreation and entertainment,... More

We went today, wonderful customer service, the older gentleman behind the counter was very nice. It is a place lost in time, which makes it wonderful, kid friendly, and no over crowding. I read these reviews and I cannot help but wonder if these people realize this is a very old place, historic, and was not meant to be a... More

Thank you for your visit and for your positive review! It's very gratifying when people "get" what we're all about, and who enjoy us for what we are. Especially satisfying for us is the number of people who are 2nd, 3rd, 4th and even 5th generation visitors here. Many are delighted to find a place still operating that they enjoyed... More

We recently held a family reunion here. I'm pretty sure the words "customer service" are not part of the philosophy or vocabulary there. We paid to rent the shelter because it offered A/C (and in 100+ degree heat, we thought that would be great) but there was an issue with the unit and it didn't seem to be a priority.... More

Here's my husband's response to this review. I was out of town at the time. "The manager/owner was indeed grumpy. It started when I came out and saw a motor home parked at a 45' angle, taking up 3 spaces. They moved it but left it parked 20 feet out into the drive way. Finally they moved it into a... More

Thank you for your visit and your positive comments! As for the spider issue, you're absolutely right about the beneficial aspects. And as we point out, we're not in downtown Boise; we're in the middle of the desert, which is their home. In order to avoid introducing spider-killing chemicals into the pool, we do frequent "spider patrols," in spite of... More

We arrived around 11 am but they let us in anyway with the seniors and kids training in the one large pool. It is a large covered pool with warm mineral water with no sulfur smell. Has changing rooms and bathrooms with a small towel rental if you don't bring your own. Very cheap! Lots of great rv/tent spaces but... More

Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to write a review! The water is definitely our greatest asset, along with the beautiful lawns and trees, but the cabins also get lots of positive feedback. But opinions are subjective. Occasionally people walk into them and turn up their noses, but the majority come in with comments like, "Oh,... More
