Kona Village Resort put on the best luau I've ever been to. Here's hoping the resort opens again soon. You can check out the Facebook page hosted by other guests like me... who found this the most wonderful resort in the world.

Make sure you call first - I think some of the recent reviews here are of the Kona Resort Luau, not the village luau, since they claim to not be running them due to damage sustained last year.

I had never been to a luau so I have nothing to compare it to, but it is everything you think a luau should be and more. There is a reason that people staying at other resorts come to Kona Village for the Luau. The food, the entertainment, everything was spectacular!!

The King Kamehamama Hotel luau in Kona had only just reopened that night after the tsunami had caused alot of damage and so it had been being held at the Sheraton. It was an excellent night. We paid $15 extra for privilege seating which meant we were at the front and got dinner first, but would have been just as... More

Sadly the Kona Village was damaged in the tsunami that hit the Big Island from Japan in spring 2011 and is closed until further notice. (as of Aug 2011). This is reputed to be the best luau on the island. The setting is very nice. To get good seats you need to get there early and do not sit at... More

Kona Village Resort to Close Following Significant Structural and Property Damage Due to Tsunami. We had reservations for the second week of April 2011 to attend the Luau. The property just called to tell us that everything is cancelled for several months. Check their website for updates.

We attended the Wednesday night Hula Mana luau and rated it as the best we'd ever been to. We've been to several public and private luaus on every island, even one with Don Ho as the entertainment a few years back, and this one was tops. We both liked the setting, how they were organized, that they presented real flower... More

I'm writing this honest review to stop people from wasting their hard earned money and valuable vacation time. My wife and I live in Kona and we went to the Kona Village Luau for an early Valentine's Day treat for one another. It was terrible. The food is bad and the show is deplorable. We were so upset. I'd rather... More

The food was very good for a buffet. The Kalua pork was a neat twist and very good. The hotel luau grounds are nice. A great MC. As far as price, dinner + show + a drink (in Hawaii where prices are inflated typically)=worth it!

As a former travel agent, I have been to the islands numerous times. Now I go back with my family for vacations. Let's first say, you don't go to a luau for the food. It's about the ceremony, the surroundings, the entertainers, the story of Hawaii. Kona Village has it all. I have been to several other luaus in Hawaii,... More
