Spent three days here with my husband. Absolutely beautiful. Not a big tourist trap town, which was great! Plenty of places to eat. We stayed on the beach in town so we walked everywhere and didnt drive once. It was too cold to swim, but it was still great just to walk up and down the beach. We rented scooters,... More

We stayed at the state park in our motor coach, as we do almost every April. We love to walk on the beach in the early morning and at dusk. With nine miles of beach there never is a crowd. The shore birds are wonderful and seem to enjoy participating in a photo shoot! There are hiking trails into the... More

We just returned from spending days walking the beautiful shores of St George. Waking up to the beautiful sunrises and having coffee on the third floor deck was like a little slice of heaven! Had family and grandchildren with us . They loved the lighthouse, going on a fishing trip, and running on the beach!! I recommended to everyone!

The beach was basically deserted. We had about a hlaf of mile of beach all to ourselves. I dont know what it is like in peak times but I imagine it would not be crowded it is way off the beaten path. The sand was silky soft, and there were shells everywhere! We didnt go on the walking trails, but... More

From Eastpoint, you travel over a long bridge to St. George Island. The first thing you see is the lighthouse. The keeper's house and lighthouse are worth a brief visit. Beautiful beaches, but the island itself is surprisingly built up. There is a nice park at the end. Few hotels/motels but lots of vacation rentals. Similar to many Florida panhandle... More

Laid back. Dog friendly. Great beaches. Miles of clean soft sand. Shelling. Relaxing. Great funky restaurants. Seafood. State park. Scenery. Sun. Eagles. Dolphins. Herons and tons of bird life. Great fishing both bay and gulf. They call it the forgotten coast, but it has tons of history, plus Eastpoint and Apalachicola are minutes away across the bay and bridges. Our... More

We stayed here at the State Park campground with our trailer. The island is beautiful. The camping area is 4-5 miles from the park entrance, so you're away from noise and city lights. The crossover bridge to the island is 4.5 miles long. We initially had reservations for only two nights, but were happy the park could accommodate us for... More

We usually rent a house with another couple for a month long stay, twice a year. We have dogs and they love meeting friends. Many of the houses have a pool and even elevators. You can locate on the bay with wonderful bird watching, including eagles. Also only a short walk yo the beach. Or go beach front. Life is... More

My family has had little experience with beach vacations before this trip thus we don’t have much to compare St. George Island to, but I do believe even if we did frequently travel to tropical getaways, we would find this trip just as or even more relaxing than other potentially more expensive stops. This is due to the fact that... More

Such a lovely place to spend a week or a month if you want quiet and relaxation. Because we travel often with our pet, we appreciate the number of places available that are dog friendly...even the beach! We will definitely come back! We have rented a home for the month of January and plan to return next year for longer.... More
