You have to hike a little, but the pay off in the end is out of a movie! The trail is very doable, and also quite SQUATCHIE! We had a blast on this trip and once you see the Glacier and its lake you will truly believe there is a GOD and he made this place! We LOVED this!

If you like hiking and beautiful views, then St. Mary's glacier is for you. There is a short hike, .5 miles, to the glacier from the parking lot. You can take a longer hike if you would like. The glacier was really fun and a nice sight. The view from the glacier is amazing. You can see the surrounding mountains... More

Hiking the 3/4 mile up to St. Mary's Glacier is more than worth it. The parking is $5 per vehicle. When you get to the glacier - you see mountains, snow, and a lake - words don't do it justice. The 9 mile drive north from the Idaho Springs exit takes longer than you might expect. We spent a week... More

To arrive at St. Mary's Glacier, take I70 about 30 minutes west of Denver, to Exit 238. From there, take County Rd. 275, Fall River Rd., about 12 miles north to St. Mary's Glacier trailhead. There is abundant lodging available (motels, lodges, B&B's, resorts) in Idaho Springs, Empire, and Georgetown. All are within 12 miles of Exit 238, and they... More
