You feel like a tiny bug walking through or driving threw this amazing ancient forest! It's a life changing experience really! Get out of the car and climb the roots and feel how tiny you actually are!

This is a spectacular 31 mile drive through beautiful redwoods. We drove up from Marin County, started at the south end of the drive with a drive through a redwood tree. Stopped for a picnic in a quiet grove of "Giants". So peaceful and so relaxing. Skipped the visitor center, too many buses. Made several stops and then spent the... More

I would have enjoyed this trip much more if their welcome brochure/map wasn't SO CONFUSING! I mean the scenery is to die for, it's amazing. I've never seen trees or any type of forest shrubbery like that before. The map we received at the first stop is basically a squiggly line that's supposed to be the road, and it has... More

If you ever have the opportunity to do this, you should definitely do it. While we did other activities in California, this was the main attraction that we wanted to see. We drove up from San Francisco and stayed in Garberville. The next morning we drove up the 101 freeway and came in the North Entrance to the Avenue of... More

We drove the 32 miles stopping at regular stops. The coastal redwoods are absolutely amazing trees. They are very straight and tall. We walked amongst them when we could. We liked it when there was nobody else in the area so we could enjoy the tranquility of these beautiful trees. Even the fallen trees were incredible as they still had... More

This is a great 32-mile ride! Drive slowly because it will pass much too quickly otherwise. Take advantage of some of the places to stop for photos. If you have a choice, try not to do this on a rainy day; you'll want to get out and walk around.

We camped in hidden Springs Camp Ground in the southern part of the park. Driving through the Avenue of the Giants is a experience like no other. Going in and out of old growth groves, winding along the river, truly amazing Drive. There are also some neat little artist that are set up along the way. The best ones that... More

Drove the entire 32 miles from South to North and was able to pick up the free brochure for the Auto Tour. This pamphlet shows the main 8 stops with descriptions and is quite helpful to determine which ones you want to stop at, and assists so that you do not miss anything. The Visitor Center is also a wonderful... More

We drove 32 miles of sheer joy in September this year. We were traveling from San Francisco to Eureka having stopped at Fort Bragg along Highway1 . This allowed us more times to explore this area. Behind every tree was another one worth looking at. It took us a good couple of hours with plenty of stops for photos. Simply... More
