If you like the outdoors this drive is a must. Stop along one of the many pullouts, get out of the car and experience the environment first hand. Even if you only take a short walk on one of the paths, you will be left in awe. This is one of the finest examples of the beauty mother nature has... More

It is worth the extra time to jut off the highway and make the Avenue of the Giants a part of your drive. There are many stops along the way where you can get out and take pictures, or read about the history of the area. The kids were bored after about 30 minutes, but my husband and I thoroughly... If you are driving up the coast, allow the extra time to get off the freeway and slow-drive this old highway through the magnificent redwood groves, and stop at any of the short trails and walk amongst the old beautiful Giants. The smell, the acoustics, the perspective of an ant. There are many accessible trails for physically impaired persons. Take... More

Wow! This was even cooler than i expected! We figured we'd drive through and maybe stop for a hike quickly. We didn't plan to take 4 hrs hopping on and off but we loved it so much we kept doing it! What is awesome is that it's a choose your own adventure drive with lots of signage. If you're going... More

At clearly marked entrances off Highway 101 you enter the Avenue Of Giants. Keep in mind that it is quite long and goes through several little tourist attractions with restaurants and shops that had us wondering if we had somehow gotten off the route. You will drive in and out of great stands of redwoods, drive along the Elk river,... More

If you wish, you could stay in your car the whole time and it would still be worth the trip. There are plenty of magnificent Redwood trees to be seen from the Highway. But of course you should get out and stretch your legs at the many groves along the way. The biggest trees and awesome views are only a... More

This is a must see, if your passing by, or if the sublime California Redwoods are your destination. This will add VERY little extra time, and it parallels 101 so there is no chance of getting lost. The trees are right on the road so its a really amazing drive. Not a long or windy road, just breathtaking old trees.... More

This is truly one of the most stunning stretches of roads anywhere in the world. We took one of the nature hikes and it was like being in a 'living cathedral'. I don't exaggerate when I say that it is a spiritual experience!

I have always loved the giant redwoods. The Avenue of the Giants is the most amazingly beautiful drive through a natural forest of trees so big, you will be mesmerized. The awesome majesty of these trees will fill your heart with giddy delight! I took my grandsons who are 10 and 6. They were bored until we pulled over and... More

I love driving on the Avenue of the Giants you can pull over just about any place and take a short stroll and admire some ancient giant Redwoods. Some trees still standing are well over 1000 years old.
