Great drive thru giant redwoods. There is a very worthwhile visitor center about halfway thru drive with nice displays. An actual camper made from a single hollowed out log circa early 1900's. A great 30 minute movie about worst flood in California history from 1964 flood (by request).

I have never been so much in awe of something so natural, This is one of the wonders of the world and it can't be missed if you are visiting the west coast. The smell and quality of the air is to beheld.

The first entrance to the Avenue of the Giants in Philipsville was closed so we drove further north to Meyers Flat off 101. We stopped at the Humboldt Redwoods Visitor Center to learn about the history of this 500 mile redwood belt. The Avenue of the Giants is a world famous 31 mile scenic drive through the old portion of... More

It is always mystifying how large and how old trees can be. The interpretive trails are so interesting with the facts and details about this great forest.

Highway 101 several hours north of San Francisco runs through some amazing old growth redwood groves that are not only beautiful to look at as you drive through the park, but worth stopping for a walk deeper into the woods. There are very few large tracts of old growth redwood left in California and this one is one of the... More

Avenue of the Giants is State Route 254, which runs parallel to the 101. Very scenic drive which goes thru some small towns. There are multiple places that you can exit hwy 101 to drive the Avenue of the Giants. Nice places to stop for photo opps or just enjoy the view. Truly makes you appreciate the redwoods!!

This wonderful little road gets you off of Hwy 101 and threads you through the beautiful Redwoods. If you have a sunroof, open it so can see the tops of these giants. And drive slowly so their magic permeates your soul. Make sure you give yourself enough time to drive the route both ways. Worth it.

New to the Eureka/Fortuna area, we decided to explore...with our parents in tow...The Avenue of Giants, was first on the list. As we pulled off of Hwy 101, onto the "Avenue of the Giants" a feeling of utmost, calming...relaxing...love, every positive emotion imaginable, came over, all that was in the truck. The sight of the Redwood Forest, oak, wild ferns,... More

Access to the Avenue of Giants is just north of Garberville (from the south) or south of Fortuna (from the north) and the 50 km-long route more or less follows US 101, though on a smaller, more torturous and less frequented road. Apart from the eponymous redwoods, visitors can expect to cross a number of small towns, campgrounds and plenty... More

We came out of our way to drive through and hike the Avenue of the Giants There are eight different areas that you can pull over and park and walk around to see these magnificent trees. This is a must visit place.
