Take the time to drive this 32 mile stretch of prehistoric wonder. The giant redwoods are AMAZING. No picture or documentary can give you same awe inspiring feeling of seeing these wonders in person.

This was a most amazing drive...35 miles in length off of 101. You can get on or off at several places, but I recommend driving the whole distance at least one way. At several stops there are short hikes through the redwood forest and a lot of historical information, especially about the efforts to save the redwoods. It is so... More

The 101 is a very enjoyable ride through the various Redwood parks, so it would be easy to miss or even dismiss by thinking there is no need to do the scenic alternate…WRONG. It is simply amazing. There are both short and long hikes in the park – All I can say is excellent and don’t miss it.

I have always wanted to visit the Redwoods and finally got the chance after 50 years. Driving the Avenue of the Giants did not disappoint! The trees are absolutely stunning, with views on every side that you can't see anywhere else in the world. There are also quite a few quick stops on the road with "local" attractions. I'd expected... We drove thought The Avenue of the Giants on our way south. It follows the route of the 101 so it's easy to hop off and on again. There's a well designed leaflet at the entrance which details several places to pull into and take a stroll into the forest and there are information boards to explain about the trees... More

Between Humboldt Redwoods State Park and Redwood National Park is the really breath-taking Avenue of the Giants. You can drive the entire "avenue" or exit along the way to get back to the freeway. There are several points of interest and it is a beautiful drive. The trail at the Visitor's Center was very well done.

Absolutely breathtaking. There really is nothing like it. You absolutely cannot miss this. We added two days to our Oregon Coast tour just to take in the Redwoods and the Avenue of the Giants. Undoubtedly worth it. Our young teenage and pre-teen daughters were awestruck. Sad that the drive through trees are privately owned (we Canadians are not used to... More

We followed the auto tour. At the entrance to the Avenue there is a bin where you can pick up a map. We stopped at all the suggestions and hacked in. With so many people I thought it would be crazy. But the Forrest swallows you up. It's beautiful and peaceful. The hiking trails are easy. We had a 7... More

If you are driving on the 101, it only takes a few extra minutes to exit and take the Avenue of the Giants. It was well worth the drive. We stopped to take the pamphlet for the Auto Tour. I would recommend it because it numbers the stops and gives a description of each place. My kids enjoyed watching for... More
