Great place to relax.

Peaceful, clean and has hiking trails. I came by myself to check it out, planning a trip with the family to have a picnic.

We spotted here not knowing what to expect and it's awesome. Small, out of the way, beach, picnic tables, good water, nice sand. There are all sorts of short little hiking trails that wind around through the trees and flowers so if you want to take a break from the sun you can cool off in the shade doing that.... More

I've had the good fortune of traveling a lot in my life, and El Capitan is still one of my favorite places. It's close to Megapolis yet it looks, and often feels, a thousand miles away. The short nature hikes out to the beach under the Sycamore arches and along the oak-lined pathways are sublime. The further ability to ride... More

We stopped for lunch here, nice beach, good views and waves, but with so many vistas on the Central coast, this one does not jump out too far. There is a 9 dollar entrance fee.

This is one of our most favorite beaches to go to. The parking is easy and there are bathrooms and showers. In the summer there is even a snack shack available! At Lowtide it's really wonderful to take a walk as well. Make sure to bring tar remover because there is plenty on the beach. Just 10 minutes north of... More

Quiet and peaceful prior to Christmas. Three-fourths of campground closed during this slower time of year. First come-first serve on what was open. Stayed three nights. Arrived two nights prior to Christmas and got a very scenic spot up on the cliff. More folks rolled in on the night of the 25th. Campground hosts were friendly and not into micro-managing... More

While the park is on the cliffs overlooking the ocean and is close to Santa Barbara, it is incredibly loud at night. The car noise from 101 is loud at night, two trains went by each night and there were planes flying over around 2:00 AM. Cold showers are included but you have to pay for warm. The park is... More

El Capitan State Beach is a pretty Pacific Ocean day use and campground in Goleta. We have gone several times; this time later in the day.

We just tent camped at El Capitan 5 days. We used to camp here with the kids when they were younger about 10 years ago and loved it and hubby and I decided to come back after all the years on our own. The beach is awesome, the little store is well stocked and the camp sites are nice size,... More

We camped for two nights at El Capitan state beach for the first time in August. The beach was nice and not too crowded. I enjoyed the little store (the kids liked getting ice cream). I took along baby oil for the tar, but we didn't get any on our feet (we live in Santa Barbara and are quite used... More
