In reading some of the recent reviews, just wanted to clarify. There are no hook ups and no dump station. There is an area to fill your water tanks on your rig, and the nearest dump station is about 10 miles in Goleta. Generators are welcome, but only during certain hours. Hope this is helpful.

We camped there the week after Christmas. This time of year there were plenty of spaces and we did not have reservations but reservations are required from early spring to late November. Pet friendly but no dogs on the sand, however leashed dogs seem to be allowed on the trails above the sand. We stayed in a 24 foot C... More

There are several camping beaches within a few miles of El Capitan State Beach. This is by far the nicest, quietest and has the best camping sites. There are sites for RV's but you would have to check to see if generators are allowed. I didn't hear any. El Capitan is a rocky beach with coastal cliffs and enough sandy... More

The E; Capitan State Beach Campsite is in a beautiful area of the Pacific Coastline, just North of Santa Barbara. The site has good amenities including coin operated showers with hot water. While listed at 2 mins for 25c I'm sure it went longer. The sites are a good size and there are lots of trees for shade. One downside... More

With the water restrictions we were concerned that they'd limit things like showers (they didn't $0.25 for two minutes still). While we were there the sites were all getting new fire rings and new picnic tables (bigger than the old ones that were there when we got there!). It was curious that the workers putting them in were wearing Pacific... More

The oil spill presented no problem while we visited El Capitan Beach but baby oil removes any tar you encounter. The campsites here are very hard to reserve due to the lottery system. Family members who wanted to join us last minute were able to rent cabins across the highway at El Capitan Canyon ($250/night glamping). You can drive to... More

We just stayed mid-week at El Capitan State Beach and had a great time biking and enjoying the beach. We had site 35, which had good reviews. It was certainly private as far as being next to your neighbor, but the site was right next to the road. There was a lot of land between our site and the next... More

We had a birthday weekend here and couldn't have had a better time! The beach is beautiful, the nearby campground is perfect - with YURTS!! - in a wooded setting and with small cabin type abodes or tents to rent, gorgeous picnic tables, and live music on Saturday nights during the summer. We set up at a few of the... More

This was my second visit and while I didn't get the spot I wanted, it was still a great place to camp on our road trip up the coast of California. There are a lot of spots, some overlooking the ocean, but the other sites are very nice too and the beach is a very close walk. There is running... More

Maybe it's a California thing, but I could not believe that it was $45 per night for a primitive tent site with no water or electricity. I have never paid more than $15 for such accommodations in my life. BUT, it sure was beautiful! My boyfriend and I were driving PCH 1 from LA to San Francisco with vague plans... More
