There is a very long drive past several really old ranches to get to this beach. It truly is beautiful and has stunning sea cliffs. Sir Francis Drake repaired his ship here and said that the cliffs reminded him of the White Cliffs of Dover. We saw Northern Elephant Seals on the beach here which are amazing creatures. Please do... if i lived closer to this beach, i'd come more often. i happened to find out about the beach because the shuttle to point reyes lighthouse was here. i wish i could've explored the beach a bit more but it was beautiful and i'm sure it's great for sunbathing. i went in january so it was kind of too cold... We have visited Drake's Beach many times. In the last two or three year, we have sometimes arrived to find that very little of the beach is accessible. When the tide is high, you can sometimes only access the small portion of the beach directly in front of the parking lot. And the last time (first weekend of Sept) we... More

Went to this beach as part of our exploration of Point Reyes. Its a long drive to get here but its worth it. We were the only people on the beach when we got there and only 2 or 3 other cars arrived during our whole time there. There is a visitor center but beware its only open at weekends.... More

This was the first time we ever set foot in the Pacific. The beach was almost empty when we arrived so we had most of the shore to ourselves. On our walk up the beach we noticed a number of jellyfish that had washed up; I almost was hit by one that was coming in with the tide while in... More

We went here today and the drive was longer than we had expected even from golden gate bridge... but once we went there , the beached seemed nice. There's a lot of parking space... the beach itself is very nice and clean... its not super crowded since it is a little of the way There is a trail that goes... More

Awesome beach, clean, unspoiled, not crowded in October on a beautiful, sunny day. There is a place to get something to eat as well. This is a photographer's paradise as the beach is surrounded by cliffs and there are plentiful seagulls. You will enjoy the splendor of the natural beauty no matter what weather you encounter.

On our last day of a three day trip from Sacramento we decided to go to Drakes Beach since we heard it was easy to get to the beach without much hiking. After a 30 minute drive from Point Reyes Station we parked facing the beach with only a 10 yard walk to the sand. It was great since my... More
